...And I'm sick of paying what I already pay. If only I could muster up the courage to "cut the cord!" 4951

Likely will be gutted and sold in chunks to the highest bidder. It's a good thing but it will take a while  for the dust to settle. 4951

I just want to see Root sports on it. Would love to watch the Astros at home. Heading to minute maid for the 1:00 game today. Week day afternoon games are the best.  4951

So a French company will be in control of the local internet monopoly. I hope they upgrade the lines so we can have the speed they have on France. 4951

@KellyG: Don't hold your breath. I have to say I have plenty of speed on my system.  Not sure why I would need to go any faster.

@KellyG: Highly doubt it. I believe best case scenario, they sell our market to one of the top tier companies, one with the ability to improve the infrastructure. I don't think they want to get in the ring with the heavy weights, make some coin then do the same thing with another company. I also don't think any of the top tiers want the whole Suddenlink market, just parts of it, otherwise they would have scooped it up.

@beastmode:

Suddenlink had the ability to improve infrastructure. They didn't have incentive to improve due to the monopoly. They did have the ability and the money to upgrade but chose not to.

The deal is fueled with debt. Altice is putting up $1.2 billion of cash.
The rest of the transaction is being financed with $6.7 billion of new
and existing debt at Suddenlink and a $500 million vendor loan note from
BC Partners and CPP Investment board. Both private equity groups will
also retain some ownership in Suddenlink.Talk about over leverage. Don't see them upgrading anything with a maxed out credit card.  4951

I just want it to work, I don't care who owns it. I pay 160 a month for internet ans cable. My internet is down more than up and my TV picture sucks. I'm so tired of calling them out I also would cut the cord but hubby is a game addict and wont let me cancel. 4951

I have had lots of upgrades from Suddenlink since moving in for internet. I started off at 7MB/s and then they did a line upgrade and I got bumped to 15MB/s for free, then a year ago they did another line upgrade and I am now at 50MB/s paying the same price. 4951

I cut the cord a year ago, and I had  hard time at first, but then I just had so much fun with the little extra money I saved. I am the only one on the street with a little antenna on top of the house. I do pay for internet, and have apple tv and, roku. I pay nine dollars a month for hulu plus, ten dollars for netflix, and my wife pays the 100 per year for amazon prime. We used all of the cable/satellite wiring to hook up to the antenna, and we get digital channels from Houston. The only hang up is we do not get some of the ESPN live sports stuff, or live Astros. Which, I really do not mind at my age. I never liked American league baseball anyway. During a storm, we get perfect reception.  4951
