Since they opened the Kingwood location, we have been a fan.  The owner/manager is a very nice guy that we've talked to before.This evening, my wife stops by to pick up dinner to bring home.  When ordering, she was told that they only had 1/4 lb of ribs left.  They were "out" of several side dishes.  They had no plastic tops for the side dishes, so they used plastic wrap.My wife asked the clerk if they had been busy today.  She replied, "No, it's been real slow".  My wife then asked to speak to the Manager.  She was told that "he is focusing on the Humble location" and isn't around much anymore.  When asked why they were short of so many things, my wife was told that they didn't order enough.  As much as I like the manager/owner, these are all managerial problems.From this incident, I can infer that the Kingwood location will not be open much longer.  If that's the case, we'll be returning to Tin Roof or Spring Creek when we want BBQ (or our @BBQguy).If the Kingwood store isn't making enough money, they would be better off just shutting it down rather than driving customers away. 4951

I concur. We have been several times and enjoyed...except the last two times. We went a couple of weeks ago around 11:30. Ordered macaroni for the kids, nope sorry not cooked yet. Ok whatever, I'll take a spud with onion strings on top, nope haven't cooked those yet either. Sorry out of chips except one kind. Then when we got our food it wasn't good at all! Don't plan in going back.

Oh and not to mention there was only one person working the front. He actually told me to "hold on" while he was finishing up wrapping the trays of meat. And when I say finishing I'm being sarcastic, it was 4 cookie sheets of meat. He wanted me to wait but I guess he saw the shock on my face when he said hold on. 4951

Wow, I was just talking about they place this afternoon. We saw a commercial during the game for Dickey's and I was telling the hubs that there's one in KW and we should try it out. Guess not. 4951

I went there twice. Never again. Had a few words with the owner and told him he really should go check out Tin Roof. He might learn something. 4951

First time I had Dickey's was from the Humble location & it was good. Tried the one in Kingwood once & was not impressed.  My friend buys her from Luling on 494. 4951

We just had Spring Creek on mothers day.  Love their turkey.  Never tried Dickie's and guess we won't.  We don't get to go out often so I want to be sure if we are going we are going to enjoy it.  I love being able to get reviews on here.  Thanks @retired_engineer you saved me some money. 4951

They are hiring for all positions at that location- maybe they are trying to clean house and are having a hard time finding employees. 4951

This is kind of ironic,because a few weeks ago I was in my doctors office in Kingwood and a customer came in talking to the office staff about Dickey's.  Apparently they had made a lunch run and it smelled so good, the other patient left there and picked up his own lunch from Dickey's.  The conversation ended up as a comparison between the Humble and Kingwod locations, and everyone said Kingwood was better.    So, in my opinion, they should make sure the location that "works", they should keep "working".   4951

@Retired_Engineer:

Luling is that little town on the way to San Antonio with the big huge Buc-ee's, not far from Sequin. 4951

As long as Tin Roof is around, why would anyone ever make a repeat visit to any other bbq joint? It's an interesting thought that there might actually be a better bbq at a restaurant, but until some other place actually provides better quality, no other place is worth a visit.I will commit to trying BBQguy's meat very soon. I'll probably start with a brisket, and later with ribs. A dollar per pound is a good deal. 4951

@Catmae:   Agreed.  If they can't keep the quality and service up at both locations, then they either need better management or shut one down.
