It would be closer to $8K after taxes...I would put it towards my mortgage principal. It would knock off a considerable bit but I think my wife would choke me out. 4951

I'd finally pay off the last bit of my student loan!  Man... That loan is a nightmare.  Then I would definitely plan a family vacation! 4951

I'd pay my kid's flight fees for the summer... then I'd have to figure out where to get more for the fall.  4951

My house is paid for, so I'd probably give it to my kids to pay off some of their student loans. But then again, they both teach at Title One schools.  If they do so for so many years(?), the rest of their student loans are forgiven. In that case, it would be foolish to pay ahead on their student loans.  FYI, Title One schools are those in low income areas. So, I'd probably buy a new gun, give some to the wife, and bank the rest.  I have a Ruger LC9, but I really like the newest version, LC9s Pro. 4951

@Nurse3: You'd need twice that amount for a cheap pool.  $20k doesn't go very far in that world.
Generic comment regarding the rest of this thread...  It's funny how relative things can be.  Where I grew up, if someone where to win $10k it would literally be life changing.  I know there are exceptions, but for the most part, for the average family in Kingwood it would be nice and a welcome surprise, but I doubt it would be life-changing for all but a small percentage. 4951

It's only $8000, so it's not going to go far.  I'd likely do something fun with it, like satisfy everyone's vices...maybe have a big KDC party with open bar, catered yummies and all of the smoke @herron1345 could handle in one night. 4951
