Afternoon y'all!Been lurking and haven't seen a fishing thread yet so i figured i'd start one! Have at it!Just got a kayak and have been modding some rod holders and a raised seat... I normally fish inshore (surf, pier, jetty, etc).Looking for a good place to get the Yak wet just to see if it floats... First time kayaker btw... Lol!Thanks in advanced.  4951

Forest Cove we have a small marina or pond. You go test her out in there. It use to open up to the river but the hurricane filled it in and they never dredged it.  4951

There is a red metal gate to the dock they recently installed, it use to be open but people would leave trash and beer cans so they closed. it. With a kayak though, you could just carry it to the dock and park your car at the apartments or community pool. Nobody will mess with you.   4951

Big fan of River Grove park.  Go down to the boat launch and right next to the bridge it is really shallow.  Makes for getting in and out very easy.  I've caught a couple bass down there but nothing big.  For salt water I like to head down to the flats.  Cross the ferry and there is a great spot where it is fairly calm.  https://www.google.com/maps/place/Rettilon+Rd,+Port+Bolivar,+TX+77650/@29.3882342,-94.7259822,16z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x863f0b2cae53997f:0xf5c0f931f2cd304eThis was my haul a couple weekends ago... 4951

I use to fish a lot with my dad and brothers. I loved it. Didn't want to clean the fish however. LolBut I find it very calming to sit there in the quiet and surrounded by nature. I could just sit out there all day and take pictures too.Have fun!! 4951

Another good spot, right under the over pass, free and a good boat launch.  4951

I usually launch at the boat ramp just East of the 59 overpass. But driving by the other day I noticed it is now gated off. River Grove is nice but I since I am in Forest Cove I can't get a K-sticker. Holler out when you go I am looking for folks to paddle with.JJ  4951

We fish Forest Cove quite a bit in the yaks.  Good for bass crappie and catfish.  Gate open is a hit or miss situation.  I also have a civic pass for the Dunnam launch which gives access to the San Jac east fork Caney creek areas.  Ponderosa launch will get you into Luce Bayou area..  We also like Peach creek from Roman Forest to the take out beach in Lake Houston Park.  You can also put in at the Y and fish Bens Branch. 4951
