Making sure kids clean their rooms, then we are going to address 100 graduation announcements. We'll probably hit las Palomas after church. 4951

This might sound negative, but, I am NOT spending it with my MIL again. I realized that over the years, we have spent most of them at her house having lunch that SHE picks out. I'm a mom as well, and this year, I want to be home, enjoying the day, and grilling OUR favorites.

We are planning to visit Veron's today to grab some major grilling goodies. 4951

Going for a run with my dd and then nothing. We don't do Mothers Day or Fathers Day. When my Mom was alive I'd do something for her- but thanks to my witch of a MIL- Mothers Day and Fathers Day got completely ruined from the very first year so hubby and I decided that we would never expect, guilt and pressure our kids into a Mother's Day Extravaganza like my MIL tried to do. Over the years the kids have made me cards and have bought little gifts- but because they wanted to. I just have no emotional attachment to Mothers Day in particular.My Mil was a real piece of work and you have to understand that in order to understand and my aversion.
I have a little angel statue in my yard that is my Mom place so I'll gather some flowers from the yard and put them on the statue in honor of my Mom 4951

I'm hoping it will be solitude... Me and the laundry! Too much going on today, so I'll just want to chill. Hubby went out & got steaks for tomorrow. May try Pollo Tropical tonight if I can talk him into it. 4951

@Jgurl: Basically the same situation here. She monopolizes every holiday and has for ages. We aren't necessarily celebrating, but just having s nice day of what WE want, for a change. 4951

I'm going to my mom's and were grillin up steak, shrimp and baked potatoes. I'll probably make a cheesecake and cobbler of some sort for dessert. Then we'll just chill and play games. 4951

@jpgurl I agree 6 years at edible arrangements is enough to kill the fun and meaning of both mothers day and Valentine's day. Those sweet little mom's that you send gifts to are royal ***** on the phone. I lost a lot of faith in people because of that job.

@donnatella:
Yep totally get that. I understand Now that she had the same mental illness ( undiagnosed and untreated) that my son suffers from but that doesn't negate the effect her toxic ways had on all of her kids and their families. Their wasn't much grieving done even by her own kids when she passed I am sad to say. I have forgiven her because she didn't ask to be sick- nor does my son. I have learned to draw very deep lines at what I will and won't put up with from my son. He's not happy with that and is not speaking to me right now- I can live with that. I'm getting too old for Toxic!
I do wish all us Mothers a very Happy Mothers Day filled with joy and happiness!! I know mine is always happy just by staying home!!! 😀

This is my first Mothers Day without any kids....they are all grown up and have their own lives now. DH is out of the country so maybe I'll just kick back in the fresh air and enjoy the solitude. I'm not sure Mothers Day is meant for solitude though. 4951

It's all about what the wifey wants to do. She wanted the house to herself today, so we obliged her. I took off with the girls early this morning, and we just got back. We did some Mother's Day shopping, had lunch, and just stopped at random places on the way home. The wifey coupons on Sundays, so that doesn't change. When she returns though, I'll have her favorite meal all grilled up for dinner: Surf-n-Turf Galore!! I'll get to see my mom in a couple weeks. She's coming for a visit at the end of the month. My MIL(wifey's step-mom) just recently moved to FL from IL, so she's still in unpacking mode. We saw her at Christmas, and will probably visit her new place sometime this year. Emoticon  4951
