>> I liked both the Camaro and Mustang back in the 60s and 7
@Retired_Engineer: I remember looking at a stripped down red 69 Camaro at a place called Reedmans in Langhorne Pa. I thought it was a plain old 250 6 cylinder until I popped the hood and found a 427. The salesman said she would pass everything but a gas station.
@uneasyrider: I can believe that! My best friend bought a used GTO convertable when we were in high school. I don't remember what size engine, but it would haul ***! As he hit the accelerator, you could almost watch the gas gauge dropping (almost). It also spewed a smoke screen behind it from burning so much oil. Every time he filled up, he need to add about one quart of oil. That got pretty expensive. We both worked at a gas station at that time, so we kept the oil drained out of other cars during oil changes. When things were slow, we would run that oil through a coffee filter into a gallon jug. He kept a couple of filled jugs in his trunk and would add that oil as necessary. Needless to say, it only took a few years before the engine blew! But man, did we have fun in it while it lasted!
