I am trying to stop myself from drinking an ungodly amount of soda everyday. All is well until about 8 or 9 each evening. Then the borderline migraine starts. I had to break down and drink a glass of Pepsi tonight to hedge the headache a bit. What would help, other than a caffeine laced pain reliever such as Excedrin or Pain Aid? 4951

Caffeine now causes me to have atrial fibrillations so I had to stop ALL caffeine.  It's tough but you can cut back (or totally give it up).I used to drink coffee all day long at work.  Once I realized that I was getting the jitters and would have withdrawal headaches on the weekends, I cut back to one mug per day.  I kept a large insulated mug filled with ice water on my desk.  That helped my habit of sipping on something. 4951

Try drinking water with a drop of peppermint oil in it.  I use one drop per 16 oz bottle.  I was a serious caffeine addict -- two big cups of coffee and four-six diet cokes a day.  I started the peppermint water and love it, plus, I'm down to one cup of coffee a day and no headaches or sleepiness or pain killers. 4951

Caffiene is also in chocolate so I get double whammy.

@Stealth83:   That's a common misconception.  Chocolate does not contain caffeine.  It contains a chemical compound that is similar to caffeine.  Some people react to it as if it were caffeine, but others don't.  I can't have caffeine, but I can eat small amounts of chocolate with no ill effects.  I prefer the dark semi-sweet or bitter-sweet.
