What are your thoughts? I find it strange and concerning. Never heard of anything like this before.

It's not a person but a military exercise to be performed in several states. Our own governor will have the Texas Guard overseeing it. I did not post a link to an article so that others will do their own research and former their own opinions. 4951

They did a giant exercise like this just a few years ago and we are still the same old police state / oligarchic quasi-fascist state we've been since the 40's.  Nothing changed.   4951

I read up on it. Sounds crazy. Some say it's just a military exercise but others say it's getting ready to impose martial law on citizens. Crazy. 4951

I have read alot about this lately.  You should check out some of the articles even in the chronicle.  For being such a liberal media source they sure even had me worried.   There is so much out there that we will never be told... and as one article stated only 13% of Americans trust our government to tell us the actual truth. Some feel that the walmarts that are closed are in strategic areas, like points of war.  They feel there is tunnels either that exist or being built under these stores to store warheads and such.  Think back to Manhattan Project where a warhead was built under a woolworth.   Even if you aren't into conspiracy theory you still have to wonder about this one!  Now our Governor has called upon the Texas national guard to watch out for the Jade Helm 15 projects.  Coming to a neighborhood near you.    4951

Much ado about nothing.  These type of exercises have occurred in different parts of the country before.  Our Governor should know better than to even hint there might be something amiss.  As I said on ADC I have had the opportunity to travel the country extensively over the years.  When it comes to conspiracy theories involving the federal government they tend to be more prevalent here in the South from my experience.  I wondered why is that?  I theorized perhaps it's a remnant of the Civil War era.  I'm not a social scientist but it would be an interesting research topic.  Perhaps someone has already done the leg work.  I'll have to look it up. 4951

I really don't think the government would go through all the trouble of shutting down Walmart stores to turn them into processing centers. There's cheaper real estate out there that they could acquire and build to suite their needs. I think the Walmart thing is more of a power play between the cooperation and the union. But that's just my opinion. Also think about this, y2k, Planet X, the Mayan calander, and my favorite government conspiracy theories the Amero that was supposed to replace the dollar and Area 51! 4951

@angiekaye: Small point of clarification with big implications....the Governor has called upon the Texas State Guard, not the Texas Army or Air National Guard.
Although the State Guard fills a much needed role in the overall Texas Military Forces, time spent in their ranks does not qualify for military retirement purposes and any rank achieved is not honored by other branches should you join them.  If I'm not mistaken, regardless of rank when you're called up you earn around $20 per day.  I don't mean it in any derogatory way, but what the Governor is calling up is much more like Texas's army version of the Civil Air Patrol.Oh...and my thoughts on the exercise are very much in-line with a few on here already.  I served 21 years in boots and we trained all over the place.  Not sure why this thing is getting any run as they've been doing similar exercises for years.  Since the military doesn't participate in Team Spirit (Korea) or Reforger (return of forces to Germany) anymore, it makes economic sense to find terrain similar to where the predominant threats in the world are here in the US and run your drills there. 4951

Well, whether or not the WalMart closures are in conjunction with Jade Helm 15, Lake Livingston and the Livingston Dam would make some pretty nice "training" areas....  Emoticon 4951

Lake Livingston and the Livingston Dam

@klp1972: Is that an operational area?  I heard they were going to be working around Caddo Lake and that made sense as Iraq has the Mesopotamia Marshes.

You can actually get paid as civilians to be a part if it as stand ins for casualties with fake blood and also fake enemies. I signed up just for fun but the pay was only $10 an hour and it was too far away to make it worth my while. I would have also had to get a hotel room. They contacted me this week for orientation but I told them no thanks.  So, with all the theories being but out there, I have an actual fact. You don't have to sit back and wonder what's going on, you can be a part of it! I think the sign up has expired however but they have training operations all year around.    4951
