We just used Life Among Dogs - up on Loop 494 right before Ford Road in Porter. With a first-time visitor coupon, it was 30% off. If you book online, it's 10% off. My pup came to $26 after all the discounts. She did a nice job overall. Small establishment - she's trying to build it up. She was very gentle with the pup, too. 4951

I've used FurBabies a couple of times, but Mavis is gone now and she was the one I liked so much. You wouldn't happen to know where she went do you? 4951

@ctl74:

Is that the place right before 1314 on the left? And where did you find the coupon? 4951

We like the one on 494 by the Laundromat. The prices are about the same as everyone else. They are super nice and do a excellent job!  I don't have any issues dropping them off and picking up in the afternoon. I see it as a doggy field trip.  4951

I like the girls at Dog Gone Stylin.  Lisa, the owner is great.  And she stocks and sells my dog collars, so I love her even more!  Emoticon  Every time I am in there they are packed.  The girls do a great job with the dogs, talking to them all the time to calm them down.  4951

My fur baby Smores says try Dog Gone Stylin and ask for Julie. She is the best! Lisa, the owner is great, but Smores has always been groomed by Julie. She is very calming for him and they can get you in a lot of times on short notice. 4951

Anywhere except PetCo and Dogs Day Inn. Terrible service both times at both places, dog came home shaken and very scared and restless. Even came home once bleeding. The owner refused to speak about it, even. I will not return. 4951

There are so many good privately owned groomers in the area why would anyone go to Pet Smart or Pet Co. Dogs day out has such a bad reputation I don't know why anyone would use them.  Hope they improve their business practices when they open their new facility. 4951

So let me ask since I have a new fur baby.  Is it normal to be asked to drop the dog like at 8:30am and left them for 6 to 8 hours for a bath/to be groomed.  My Becca is a rescue and she really dislikes the crate.  I have not had to use the crate at home as she is housebroken and does not really bother things so it is kind of distressing to leave her for so long.  I thought it would take like a couple of hours? 4951

To tatertot. That's the thing, I will not leave my little dog at all. I have been able to get the appt first thing in the morning and even go back there with the groomer. If you look you can find one that won't insist on this policy. Shop around and explain the situation, that you don't want to leave over a couple of hours, or at all. It's very traumatic for some pups, It's just for their convenience, find one that isn't so rigid.     FurBabies will let you come for the first appt they schedule and pick her up immediately. I just didn't particularly like the cut last time I went. 4951

@NMman:  I know, I hate leaving her.  I cancelled the appt I had a couple of weeks ago because they wanted me to bring her at 8:30am and leave her.  They said they would call me when she was done but it would be 1:30 or later depending on which dogs they groomed first.  I thought it would be like a hair salon.  You have an appointment you get groomed at the appointment time.
