I am sorry for all of the double postings, I was using my phone to postI have two tiny 3 lb chi's. They were going crazy barking at the bushes at the back of the yard by the fence. I assumed it was another stray cat they had cornered, so I went to check it out. There was the owl, tangeled in the fence and flapping it's wings. I put my little dogs up, then returned to the poor thing. It was huge! And I have to admit, I was afraid to get too close to it.Thinking the bird was injured and may continue to injure itself, or die in the fence, I made a call to Texas Wildlife. They returned my call about an hour later and told me that if I am located in Harris County, to call the SPCA. Apparently they have a wildlife division who would have come to get it and taken it to rehab. In the mean time, the owl stayed tangled in the fence for about a half hour before it somehow got loose, and fluttered to the inside of my fenced garden. A little while later it fluttered up to a lower branch on a nearby tree, and then, working it's way up by fluttering branch to branch, finally left to trees in the neighboring wooded area.I am glad it was able to free itself and escape, however now I am very concerned about the safety of my little dogs!   4951
