listeria can be introduced in the milk supply. all dairy herds are routinely vaccinated for listeriosis as part of their veterinary program but all it takes is one cow.. or it can come from a contaminated water supply. in some locales, animals such as pigs carrying listeria defecate and it is washed into the streams and channels. the fact that listeria supposedly showed up in both oklahoma and in brenham might mean it is an outside source of ingredients that supplies both plants. once it is in the machinery, you have to disassemble the machinery and disinfect each and every part, then reassemble it. bluebell was smart to make it a preemptive effort to be public and honest about it. rather than try to save money by hiding the situation, they have saved their reputation and in the marketplace, that is worth lots more than the small amount of production they recalled.
@ProblemAgain: Couldnt agree with you more. Â They saved their reputation by being open about it. Â They put their customers ahead of their own bottom line. Â Always liked their product and now I respect them as a company. Â Cant wait til they come back.
