Ok so my furry boys have been ***** today. Pug has been marking stuff & today my kitty decided to get out the door & catch a BIRD! I know it's instinct & all but it's still gross. He's had ALL of his shots, but how do you handle this? It just seems icky! 4951

It's nature - cats catch birds. It's not like he's killing multitudes of them. Is he a inside or outside or indoor- outdoor cat? Really not a big deal. 4951

Predominantly inside. And I know it's nature & he's an alpha cat & all, but I guess I'm worried about disease. Am I being paranoid? 4951

@HeathurYou could also try those belly bands for your dog. They do work. We've had a couple clients who use these on their dogs, and are very happy with them.  4951

If he's had all his shots, I wouldn't worry about it. I always see my neighbor's cat eating mice and birds and he seems happy as can be. 4951

My daughters boyfriend put a bird feeder outside my bedroom window. My cat and I both enjoy it. The cat gets real excited. Its like her Tv. Lol 4951

it is in their genes to go hunting for birds and small rodents. Nothing much we can do to change that. It is no different than my dogs wanting to chase squirrels. 4951

He brought me a freaking mouse. IN MY HOUSE... THAT WAS STILL ALIVE!!

Yesterday as we were leaving, he ran in the house. I noticed he was carrying something so I was like "mom, I think he has something in his mouth." (She & I work together so we carpool.) He ran into the mud room where his litter box & food are & I saw him drop something, it was a damn MOUSE!! He was batting at it between the wall & trash can & it started MOVING!!! I screamed & shut them both in the room then shoved a blanket under the door crack so the mouse couldn't get out. I couldn't be late to work so I just left them & called my husband. He called a friend who had a key. He went through the back door (which leads into the mud room) & the mouse was playing dead for the cat. As soon as Our friend went to scoop it up with the dust pan, it started running, so he STEPPED ON IT!! He kicked it out the back door & the cat picked it off & ran off with it. He's now brought me lizards, birds, squirrels (plural), & mice. His name is Jar Jar Binks (Jar Jar for short). I've affectionately renamed him Jar Jar Dahmer. He hasn't killed anything until like, a month ago! How do I get him to stop murdering innocent woodland creatures, lol?!? 4951

Aww.... Jar Jar is gracing the family with his prized "accomplishments".  I have no advice.... I'm guessing Jar Jar is very proud of himself.  We used to have a cat growing up that was an excellent "predator" & loved to drop her gifts off at the front porch, (gross).  The older she got, the more plump & less agile she became... 4951

@Heathur: Just a thought-when did you get the pug?  He is bringing you presents and wants to be rewarded.

Only thing you can do to stop the cat is keep it inside.  Otherwise it will continue to hunt, its in its genes. 4951

He is trying to be your provider.  LOL  These are little love presents to you from your lovable fur baby.  The only way you can get him to stop is to keep him inside.  We had a cat in Montana that went after moles and voles and brought them to the front door all the time.  Most of the time without their heads.  She would just look up at me with such a loving look that I had to praise her for a job well done.  GROSS, but that is how they show their love. 4951
