I have one and works great. I use it a lot after going blueberry picking at mooreheads. I freeze smaller batches of berries and they keep for a long time. I also use it.for meats. If you freeze meal portions of food then you can just take that much out of freezer to thaw. It was totally woth the cost as it was a gift ;-) 4951

@buddyboy: Naw, we usually wait for Hurricane with an extended power outage or the fridge to die, then we just throw it all out.

I have one and use it all the time... especially for meats and freezing leftovers. One thing I found it's not good for is freezing stuff like cake. I used it for cake once, and it sucked all the air out of the cake leaving it like a pancake.... The air didn't return once the bag was open (like a space bag would do). 4951

the howard johnsons restaurant chain used those to have prepared meals for their customers. when you ordered, the 'chef' would take a bag of what it was that you ordered out fo the freezer and drop it in a pot of boiling water. after the correct number of minutes, they would drag the bag out and plate the food for the waitstaff to serve you. what all that means is you can bag up portions of chili, pot roast, stew or whatever for later use. 4951

@ProblemAgain: what i found for wet stuff ,like soup or chili ,was to let it freeze in the unsealed vacuum bag first then once frozen vacu seal it. Otherwise it always made a mess in the vacuum sealer.

@ProblemAgain: Yeah so... Sometime families have part of a meal leftover and it could provide a second meal for the family.... My neighbor hunts, fishes and smokes meats and uses it for that. Food too expensive these days to throw away if you're feeding a family... Emoticon

@FoFa:  Never again (we hope)!  We had a natural gas generator put in last year!  It will run the whole house... as long as we don't use the oven, stove, and A/C all at the same time.  It can handle the lights, fridge, freezer, and two of those three big users at the same time.

@foxymama:
The one i have was about 150. Not sure of any other models as its the first one i have ever used. It is easy to use and vacuum seals well though.

@Retired_Engineer:
I have been wanting a whole house generator. Just not sure how much they cost and if it's worth it. 4951
