My little sweetie turns 16 in May and wants to have a beach birthday party with a few of her friends. It will be all girls. We've lived here for over a year and haven't been to a beach yet, so I'm wondering if you might have some suggestions for me.I'm open to transporting the girls and picnic stuff to a beach area with picnic tables -- a state park, maybe?I'm open to renting a beach house/condo/resort for a couple of nights if it's nice and has easy access to a beach.I know that  Galveston beaches may not be perfect or everyone's idea of beautiful beaches, but, hey, we're from Phoenix and easily impressed.  EmoticonSuggestions? 4951

Mosquito cafe has great food if you opt to pick something up that is prepared locally. The lemonade cake is worth the drive alone! 4951

@HollyHobby: I highly recommend The Spot for food....it seems to be the most consistent as far as quality and service! Everything I have had there was delicious, and the prices are better than most places along the sea wall.
Make sure you take the girls to the Strand! There are ice cream shops, shopping, etc. Stewart Beach is okay; but there's a private neighborhood with public beach access half a mile away from Stewart. If the girls want a beach to themselves, I've never seen anyone else there except an occasional jogger. PM me if you want directions! 4951

You can always take the ferry to the other side and back... Instead of driving on, you park and walk on..  We always see dolphins when riding the ferry.  It's free as well. 4951

@Elle10: Totally ageee The Spot is a MUST !!!  It is right on the Sea Wall, so you have a great view and the people watching is amazing !!!  Great food, fair price - something for everyone !!!   Even if it looks crowded go !!!
