So about 3 weeks ago I woke up with the worst headache I've ever had. Felt like someone hit me in the back of the head with a baseball bat. Hubby got up and gave me motrin and I slept until noon. Felt fine when I woke up. Then about 10 days ago I woke up with horrible neck pain. Couldn't move my head to the left at all. Thought I slept wrong. It's still stiff but then yesterday, Easter morning, I got another one of those headaches and didn't make it out of bed to even see my kids find their baskets! Took some motrin and it went away in a few hours. I woke up this morning and can still feel "remnants" of the headache. Neck still stiff. What in the heck is going on!! Terrifying to say the least. Anyone else experience something like this? I made a Dr. apt for tomorrow.... I have never had migraines so I don't know if that's it but this headache is localized in the back right side of my head. 4951

Sounds like a migraine. I started getting them out of the blue in my early 30's. After a few months I realized I got them a few days before my period started. Went on like that for several years. Not sure your age, but this might be what's happening.. I ended up with a pain prescription. But yes it is a horrible neck pain. It feels as if the neck pain is causing the head ache, but all together it is a migraine. You hurt so bad you just aren't sure where it's coming from and the next day or two you will feel the reminants. Drink lots of cold water if you can handle it, some migraine sufferers, myself included, throw up everything when symptoms are the worse. Google menstrual migraines.

I'm sorry you are feeling bad. . 4951

It could be a migraine, it could be stress, it could be something with the way you're sleeping.Don't worry about it.  Let the doctor check you. 4951

Wow thank you Francita! I am in early 40's now and everything you wrote sounds pretty accurate! I completely agree it does feel like the neck pain is causing the headache. It is horrible and very scary, especially since I've never been a headache sufferer! thank you for taking the time to respond! I am glad you found the cause of yours. 4951

@Bearfin: There are pressure points on the top of your shoulders that when squeezed and released, relieve even the worst migraines. Imagine your torso as a t-shirt you want to hang up - now picture a trouser hangar with clasps. Exactly where you would pinch those clasps onto a shirt is where you want to have someone squeeze with pretty good force. Have them hold it until the pain lessens by at least half. The nerves in your shoulders are a main cause of headaches when they become too compressed by a stressed-out body.
It's difficult to do by yourself, so grab a family member or go get a professional massage! 4951

Yep. Same thing here. Started in my late 30s. 2 or 3 days before I started and before ovulation. Went on for about 5 years. Weird thing was mine always hit me at 3:30am. Sitting up helped a lot. But if it got real bad I would take a real hot bath. Very hot almost like a steam. ThenI would shock my system with cold water. A couple rounds of that would usually clear it up. Routine visit withy OB and told her about it. She prescribed me a very low dose blood pressure med and they have all but gone away. I get one very rarely and not vey bad at all. 4951

that dang menstrual cycle, can't wait for that crap to be over.  Sorry about your pain.  I get bad sinus headaches this time of year.  My dr wrote a script for some migraine medicine that really helps.  Go see your doctor about, preferably a female doctor. 4951

Another vote for a good massage. Schedule 90 minutes. Imo, 60 mins is just a tease when looking for something other than just relaxation. 4951

@Bearfin:

I have had neck and back pain for years that causes a headache like you described. I started seeing The Oaks healthcare in Arascasita and they have been helping a lot with PT, chiropractic and pressure points. See what your doc says and if he just pts you on pain meds, go and see those guys. You may just be out of alignment. 4951

Full moon has me in pain the last few days. Stress can bring in migraines. But it's usually the stress let down. Good pillow heat on base is skull and ice on forehead always helps me. (40 years suffering now ). And doesn't hurt if we pray for a cure ! 4951
