It is all over my yard, grows like 20 times as fast the regular grass, and how does one kill it without killing the real grass? 4951

To me, it looks like young Johnson grass.  It's an invasive species, and difficult to eradicate.  It's a big problem for farmers.  It won't tolerate being cut frequently, so hopefully, regular mowing will kill it off in your yard.http://www.texasinvasives.org/plant_database/detail.php?symbol=SOHA 4951

From the thread title, I thought we were going to have to consult with @herron1345 4951

It's not the same as the Johnson grass I'm used to seeing. The roots aren't the same.

One of my houses has it though and it seems to die out as it gets hotter, so I'm wondering if it's not a strain of fescue. Last year it took off way ahead of the native grasses, but disappeared about June. This year seems the same.

My lawn looks exactly like your picture. I almost accused my lawn man of not cutting the lawn last year because it grew so fast. Two or three days after a cutting, it was four inches high. Looked terrible.

If you read the label on most seed sacks, hey contain a very high percentage of tall fescue. If you don't let it go to seed, it will stop growing once we stop having cool nights. 4951

After hurricane Ike we ended up with all kinds of weird weeds and such in our yard. Took me pulling it by hand and using weed and feed more often. This year was the first for us to get this type in our yard as well. Best thing is pulling it roots and all before it spreads 4951
