I gave your kids the benefit of the doubt and decided to sit behind you guys anyway at that restaurant. Just a heads up, but your 4 and 7 year olds jumping up and down in the seat, kicking my seat, screaming, and pushing your other baby's stroller around, all the while singing at the top of their lungs and spitting on the floor is not cute or acceptable. This is what makes people hate sitting next to kids. To top it all off, you never once told them anything or even acknowledge that they existed! Please handle your children next time or I won't handle this situation as anonymously. Thanks. Rant over.- Grumpy old man 4951

Sorry you had such a bad experience.

Once when my babies were three years old, they acted up in a restaurant. I took them into the bathroom and told them that they were ruining everyone's meal and that we were leaving but they would apologize to each person on the way out. They said sorry (more like "sowwy") to each table as we left. People seemed shocked that we were leaving but I'll tell ya what, they haven't ever done anything like that ever since. 4951

@jack1, I feel your pain. I was on the road for 5 hours Sunday (I was coming home from Cedar Park on what should have been a 3.5 hr trip...) so DH and I decided to go to Texas Roadhouse (1st mistake) for dinner. It's always LOUD in there anyway, and with being tired and having a headache I wasn't the in the most tolerant of moods... From somewhere in the bowels of the restaurant, a child started SCREAMING over and over. No one attempted to stop said child. I'm old school and would get arrested for bustin' booty the way we used to. Then DH and I had a discussion about what could be done these days... @SerenityNow, I LOVE your suggestion and wish more parents would try that one!!! 4951

We always told our kids of they didn't behave properly they would gonsit in the car alone while the rest of the family ate. It worked and we never had to send anyone to the car.

There are many "adults" who don't behave properly as well. 4951

No, our children never behaved like that in public, because they knew we'd take them out to the car and they'd be sorry! And in these days and times, we try positive reinforcement. In several restaurants, when we've been in there with a family that had several children, we have picked up their bill (anonymously) when they made their children behave and be respectful. Just told our wait staff when they asked for their bill, to tell them it was paid for by an appreciative couple that was thrilled that they took care of business. Not much you can do with the bad ones, because they never think they're being bad, right?  4951

20 years ago we wee in Jade Palace and a couple had a young son that decided to run circles around our table. Upon seeing the parents forgot he was with THEM....I abruptly told hit to sit down. He did. The look on the parents faces were priceless. Not sure if they were dumbfounded I said something or dumbfounded they were gonna get stuck with him. Don't care either way. If I am paying to enjoy a meal, I am going to enjoy it. 4951

BusyMommy - mine would probably choose to go sit in the car! LOL   Honestly my son was horrible to take out when he was a baby so we stopped going out for about 2 years. Not kidding. It was torture for us and everyone around us so it was pointless. Now we don't have any issues going out, both of mine respect others (for the most part) and enjoy eating out. I guess my cooking helped with that. :-)  4951

I really dislike seeing kids running around a restaurant. It's so dangerous for the wait staff & the child.  They should be in their seats.  Children could trip or bump the staff and hot food or beverage go flying and someone gets injured. It really ruins the meal for me because I get anxious. I want to get up & take the kid to the parents & yell at them!

Jack1 said they were pushing a stroller around - that's just not a NO but HELL NO. 4951

Back in the day generally all my mother had to do was give us the "stare".  But woe be to us if she actually had to put strap to butt especially after embarrassing her in public.  She didn't stop kicking your butt until HER nerves calmed down  Emoticon 4951

all 8 of my children are adults now & all are living (LOL) however when we took them out to eat they were given the speech that if they did not sit still , use their inside voices & behave while we were in the restaurant they would betaken to the car , paddled & left in the car alone till we all finished our meals & had dessert without them .Not one of our 8 kids ever misbehaved or missed dessert . However going home in the car they always sang & tried to out do one another for sure. Sorry you had an unhappy experience but you should have asked the parents to control their children , perhaps she tunes them out & expects everyone else to do the same . Maybe a word to her would have also given the diners some peace & quiet also . I'm surprised the management didn't ask her to control her children for the  enjoyment of the other diners. 4951

I would've said something, but last time I did that to a mother in a similar situation, I got told off and had to listen to her call the cops and blame me for "harassing" her. Cop showed up and was cool, gladly. He took me off to the side and said she was a crazy woman and to go home. Some parents just don't know how to handle children and really should stop having so many if they can't even control one. My kids are very young but BEST know better than to behave like that. It was just disgusting to watch her let her kids ruin so many people's meals with their behavior. Thanks for letting me know I wasn't crazy or alone in thinking the situation was unacceptable, all. 4951

There was an age, somewheres between 1 and a half to about 3 and a half,  that me son did not go with us to eat unless was a kiddie joint.  Plain and simple.  He could not be still long enough...and I knew it! 4951
