We finally had to break down and approve the surgery to have my dog's eyes removed. We have done everything possible, and nothing seems to work. It's a simple procedure with minimal risk, but that didn't stop me from bawling like a baby when I had to give him over to the vet so they can hospitalize him and get him ready for his surgery. I just want him to be happy and not be in pain anymore. Well, enough of my blubbering. Just keep him in your thoughts please and thank you. 4951

So sorry, I actually know how you feel. My ex-wife had to have similar surgery for her dog to have his ear drums removed and ears sewed shut. He already had previous breathing problems and he never woke up from the surgery. It was very rough to deal with. So here's hoping it's a success even though he'll be blind. Overall he'll be better off. 4951

Thanks yall. @WskyTngoFxtrt that's kind of what I'm scared of happening with my boy. As far as I know of, he doesn't have any other problems and should be fine. I'm forever an optimist, but I also can't help but to go over every single possible outcome, no matter how unlikely, and it's the bad ones that scare the crap out of me. I am so sorry yall had to go through that. I can't imagine the heartache yall went through. It's never easy, but for it to happen unexpectedly makes it so much worse I think. 4951

My thoughts are with you! My 14 year old puppy had a surgery to remove a mast last month & I was a wreck over it, but I knew we had to get it taken care of ASAP. She did awesome & I hope yours does well & wakes up pain free! 4951

@OhHappyPets:

I'm glad to hear she's doing well! Sometimes I think stuff like this is harder on us as parents to the fur baby than it is for the animals themselves. What breed is your girl? 4951

My 2 were blind for 8 yrs and did great. I tried to not move anything around. They did very good. My dd adopted a blind dog that she adored. He was her favorite dog. She had him for 5 yrs. They do adjust but when they go outside, they walk into trees or bushes it will scare you more than your doggie. Puppy prayers for you and your doggie. 4951

Truly heartfelt to hear this.... Let us know when surgery is & how the lil' guy does. My brother has a blind dog, but no surgery was involved - he lost his sight in one eye at about 2 and soon after in the second. If you work with them when they first lose their sight, they are fine. My brother dogs walks fine on a lease & they have a play session every night with balls.  The only thing is, if you like to move furniture around (which my S-I- L did), it's pretty much of a thing in the past. 4951
