Heads up, peeps.... "Killing Jesus," the three hour long special is on this evening, starting at 7, and being aired on the National Geographic Channel....  This is based on the book, with the same title, written by Bill O'Reilly....  4951

I heard that he tried to keep it as historically correct as possible & that he pretty much succeeded. Should be a good watch... One day I'll check it out. 4951

I read "Killing Lincoln" and "Killing Kennedy".  They were both pretty good and well researched.  I don't know how much research they could do on Jesus except for the Bible (which is not a historical document) and dogma.I was NOT impressed with the TV movie National Geographic did on "Killing Lincoln".  They focused on some minor aspects and ignored bigger facts.I will probably record it tonight and watch it later.  However, if it is just based on Bible stories, I won't finish watching it. 4951

I got to admit, dudes..  I was NOT at all a fan of this Special, and was actually quite disappointed in how the life of Jesus was depicted...  It just wasn't any where near my own personal views or opinions on how (I believe) the shizzle went down...  I just personally don't see Jesus askin' his follower who they see him as...  But then again, my friends, that's just my take...  I very much preferred, and definitely recommend, The Bible (Epic Miniseries) over this....            (I actually own the DVD Set)....  Or the movie adaptation, SON Of GOD....And this blessed Easter Sunday, A.D. The Bible Continues comes on NBC starting at 8....    4951

@herron1345 - In Mark 8:29 Jesus asks Peter "Who do you say I am?"

@herron1345:  I haven't watched it yet, but I am not surprised at your reaction.  The Bible has many contrary statements in it.  Denominations/churches/preachers often emphasize one version of a situation and downplay any others. For instance, the God of the Old Testament is much different than the God of the New Testament but this is rarely even acknowledged. There was a good show by NOVA on PBS recently titled "The Bible's Buried Secrets" in which archeological data was compared to the Old Testament.  It not only compares dates with specific events in the Old Testament, but tries to explain the hows and whys of monotheism.

O'Reilly's book is not based on the bible, but more scientific, like the author said he had to have suffocated, due to what happens to the lungs during crucifiction. 4951

@monyhoney..Very nice reminder, dude...  I sincerely appreciate the Verse, my friend, but it still doesn't change my opinion of the show, or how Jesus was portrayed... In  that particular mentioned Verse, it is my personal viewpoint was Jesus was NOT asking his followers to tell or reassure him of his being, but rather for their lips to speak the truth of who they thought him to be...  Just as if a Christian today was to be questioned as to who Jesus is, their reply would be something along the lines of the same, "Jesus is the Son Of God"...    @Retired_Engineer...You are SO right, my AMAZE-BALLS friend...  And this is the exact reason why I am personally an admitted being of a Spiritual nature, and NOT of Religious denomination, per say ....  I chose to follow the teachings, the principals, the morals, and the example of Jesus, but have yet to find a church that doesn't teach their own take on the Bible, or push a certain viewpoint / agenda, hence, I am my own temple, my own church...  I have not seen that particular show, but am quite interested, and will see if I can find it On Demand or somewhere...  Many thanks for the head's up!     4951

@herron1345Like I said, I didn't see the show.  Maybe there was something in the delivery of the question from Jesus that I missed because of it. 4951

@monyhoneyOr, my friend, the blessed words of Scripture may simply reveal themselves as we are meant to receive them, personally, and so we interpret the words as the way they speak to us, individually, and spiritually....  4951
