As
@donnatella pointed out, the previous thread on tipping could be a whole other subject.I'd like to take a minute to educate anyone here who has never been a server.I am not currently a server, but on behalf of the good, hardworking people who are, let me break down the math for you....Servers are paid a base of roughly $2.17/hr. They have opening and closing duties they perform for 1-2 hours before and/or after they actually get seated with a customer. This includes polishing, light and heaving cleaning, stocking, etc. They do NOT get to keep all the tips for the night. Let's say a table has a tab of $100, each server must tip out 7% of that - $7 - no matter what tip they receive. That 7% goes to busboys and the bar. Still following? So if you give a server $2, even if it's on a $50 bill, THEY ARE PAYING FOR YOU TO EAT THERE!!! They are not only serving for free, they are LOSING money! For goodness sake, there are some cheap people in Kingwood, but stay home if you don't want to tip, because these people don't appreciate paying to serve and do your dishes!!Rant over. 4951
