@QueenB:

I know. I can see it clearly in my album but not on this thread. It was a pretty large pic I'm sure it was compressed. 4951

@Francita:  That's a good reminder.  My doc told me about the importance of staying hydrated when I was first diagnosed with high blood pressure.  Since then, I keep a large Aladdin insulated mug (with lid) filled with ice water nearby.  Even at work, when I was reducing the amount of coffee I drank, this gave me something good to sip on all day.ALSO, beware that caffeine is a diuretic.  So, while coffee and soft drinks are mostly water, you don't get full benefit of it because you will pass (OK, pee) much of it.

@Retired_Engineer:

Exactly. The best thing to drink is water. Nothing sugary or caffeinated when your goal is to be hydrated. I do drink coffee every morning so it means I need to drink additional water. I calculated out the amount in bottled water terms.. It is 4-5 16oz bottles of water. I don't really drink sodas and my tea is decaf.

I thought with the weather getting warmer that this is a good reminder. My brother ended up at the emergency room a few years ago. Taken by ambulance thinking it was a stroke, it ended up being severe dehydration. 4951

The vast majority of the water I drink is tap water.  I like it.  We always keep a couple of bottles of water in the fridge.  They are easy to grab on the way out the door. 4951

Yes, great reminder.  I know I don't drink enough, and when I do, it's the wrong things: coffee, wine, diet soda, on occassional 'Rita (maybe once a week).  I went right back to my old habit of drinking almost all diet soda. Yes, I know that's not good, but I'm an addict.  I really need to get myself back on track and ween myself off of them AGAIN.  Last time it was so hard but I did it and kicked them for about a year. 4951

More water helps with constipation too.  Really good for flushing your liver too.  I drink a cup of coffee and take allergy meds so I probably need to increase my intake.  I am starting to do Zumba and need to increase water for that too.  Maybe I should just keep a gallon full in the fridge and try to finish it by the ends the day.   4951

the human body is 98% water so you need to sip H2O all day long to keep the body refreshed , the 1st thing you should do every morning is drink an 8 oz. glass of water because the body has been resting all night without H20 . 4951

I have a very low resting heart rate..So the first thing I notice, when I'm dehydrated, is my increase in heart rate. I'm thinking about trying Nuun, pronounced "Noon"..Electrolytes, since I run so much. Anyone ever try Nuun? 4951
