We're headed out for a birthday dinner tonight. We were thinking about Lings, because Cafe East is kinda blah and the wifey likes their seafood options. I've never really looked at any others, so gimme your input. Thanks in advance, peeps! Emoticon  4951

IMO, the best Chinese food in the area is at Mencius.  If you really want really good Chinese food, go to Chinatown (BW8 and Bellaire). 4951

@BBQguy:

Birthday dinner at one of the worst restaurant cliches? Take the wifey to a nice sit down with a table cloth. Please. She will thank me. :-) 4951

I love Asian City sushi bar. I meet my boys there a lot. They have a great sushi chef that we BS with and he makes us different things not on the menu. If you do sushi there, order the seared peppercorn tuna. Omg! When my parents want to go we do the hibatchi. 4951

@BBQguy:  Sorry to be negative Nelly, but there are no good or even okay Chinese Buffets in the area.  You will be horribly disappointed with Ling's and even more so with China Ko (speaking from personal experience).

I agree with Staylifted, Asian City Hibachi sounds like a good plan, or Red Curry (Thai - same center as Rigo's and So Chocolate.)  Also the places on the Lake...Sharky's, Chimmichuri's, etc. would be good local alternatives.

You don't have to break the bank, but treat that beautiful lady special and take her somewhere nicer than the same icky old everyday places.  She's worth it.

I hate Chinese buffets.  Actually , I am not a buffet fan in general.  Too many hands, coughs, sneezes, etc..near the food.  I vote for HB Steakhouse http://hbsteakhouse.comI love the show they put on for you and the food is fabulous!  4951

Don't do it, @BBQguy -dude...  STAY AWAY from the buffet...   I also second hittin' up Asian City...  Do the Hibachi Grill, and that way you get some good grub, plus a show...  Or if you wanna roll straight baller style, there's Bennihana's in The Woodlands...  4951

Just pass on the Buffet unless you you want to go to Red Phoenix in The Woodlands or Golden China in Spring. Check them out on Yelp and Urbanspoon.

Oriental Gardens or Mencius if you don't go the buffet route. 4951

I used to deliver food to a lot of places here in KW...Y'all would never go anywhere if I told you how the back of them looked. I just asked the oldest where she wanted to go, and we ended up at Fudds for some burgers. Emoticon  4951
