Well it sounds as though the management there is the problem. To fire the whole staff over grumblings? It's like throwing the baby out with the bath water. You don't invest time and money into training people just to fire them a few weeks later. I am sorry your friend was let go. I highly doubt going to this particular management would've saved anyone's job. What management should've done was listen to the grumblings of the community and worked with the existing staff- NOT start with a completely new staff. Now they're really behind the ball and have to start with new people making all the same mistakes new people do. 4951

As someone who spent more than 12 years in PR and Marketing (and more than 15 years in the service industry), I would have to respectfully disagree with you here, @Stealth83.  This is COMPLETELY the fault of Management. To group everyone together and fire them all because of general, non-specific complaints, is ridiculous. Why not weed out the bad apples and INVEST in your staff to teach them how to be better? That shows you care. Instead, they cleaned house. Wrong, wrong, wrong.  If anything, this just further hurts the reputation because of disgruntled (good) staff who were let go, and the regulars who probably connected with the good staff members. Sad.  I think your friend should see this as a good thing, in the long run. I certainly wouldn't want to work for people who can easily dispose of me because of a general complaint. I'd be on the edge all of the time! 4951

This started out a bit strange but I have to agree. It is management's place to know what is going on and take appropriate action.

If the statements here are true and Based on their REACTION to complaints, there will be either new management or a new business there very soon.

If I had a manager react like this, I would very quickly have a new management team.

Keep in mind, we are only assuming this is all fact. 4951

Ok, so shouldn't the customer talk to the management if their expectations are not met?   That's what adults do. Maybe I just expect people to be mature.

@Stealth83: In PR, we have a saying - for every good experience, people tell 1, maybe 2, people. For every bad, they tell 10.  Yes, while it would make more sense to go straight to management with an issue, a lot of people don't. It's much easier to rant on a public forum. However, also as an adult, I wouldn't necessarily let random people's comments about a business hinder me from trying it. Unless I hear the place is filthy or everyone who goes there gets sick!

I had 12 employees who worked in the field - they weren't in the same facility as me, but I knew who was capable of doing what, whether it was good or bad. As a manager you have to know each employee and what  their strong points or their weaknesses are. You just don't throw in the towel and let everyone go. That's a cop-out.
So you know this person who got fired, you didn't work there so how do you know she was a good employee?  By what she told you?  Maybe the manager feels differently.  Management shouldn't be relying on a community message board to decide on their personnel. It truly sounds like management needs to get it together or they need to fire the management team. 4951
