How in the world do you get rid of it? We have cleaned and cleaned even hidden room fresheners. Nothing gets rid of that scent. Anyone with a teenaged son, or have raised one, with any advice? Please don't say moce him out, becuase I love and adore him, scent and all. 4951

See if he has some used shin guards tucked away somewhere.  Those are the worst. 4951

Remove carpet, drywall, and bed. The smell has permeated into the porous fabrics. Tile the entire room, floor and walls, and toss a washable blanket on the floor. That might work. 4951

@Francita: Might as well move and rebuild. 4951

You'll have to do the same thing at the new place. Teenage boys are just stinky. I know, I lived through two.

In all honesty and not joking, the smell is probably in the matress and carpet. Steam clean both. 4951

Just as I suspected. Many blogs and articles dedicated to this subject. I googled "how to get rid of stinky boy smell in bedroom". Came up with this article.

Steam clean the carpets and you might have to regularly wash the blankets at Least twice a week. I would also clean regularly all the sporting cloths including shoes. 4951

Baking soda can be quite effective in absorbing odor. Sprinkle it in his shoes and let it sit as long as possible. On the carpet too and then vacuum. Add some to his laundry and wash with it. It may take a few applications but it works. 4951

@Odin: You should come check out DS's room.  He's at the end of the hallway.  I start smelling it about half way down.  There's no denying nor escaping it.  I don't recall my room smelling like that when I was his age, but I'm sure it did.
