It was all ways FoFa, go open the gate, "drive through" close gate.I was hopping in and out of trucks/cars more often than anything.I really hated those barbwire gates with no supports. 4951

Would a big farm truck fit through the opening though?  That was a compact car.  Cool non the less. 4951

Cool concept but it better be made of steel.  This looks like wood and would probably last about three trips. 4951

If anyone (stranger, burglar, etc) can drive up to that and it opens, I'm wondering why have a gate there in the first place? 4951

@fofa gate opening /closing duty was the WORST. I still have to do it when I visit my mom.

I may buy her an electric one for her birthday. 4951

@Ebola: probably but the cattle guard would likely stop them from leaving.

Yes ^^^ that.  The cows don't like to step on the slats.  This would be awesome if it was metal instead of wood. 4951

In addition to barbed wire gates, and cattle gates, my parents had a chain-link fence (with gate) around the house. I was also the designated gate opener/closer.  When I went away to college, my parents decided to just leave the chain-link gate open. 4951

@WskyTngoFxtrt:

Maybe it's an internal gate and there to keep critters in or out?

We never worried much about keeping people out living in BFE..if someone was going to steal something, they didn't do it from the homes that they had to drive up a long drive, get out and open the gate to get to

we were at the "farm & garden"  & they had a chain link gate that worked the same way your garage door opens with a "remote" except it slid to the side instead of up & down. A lot better concept  since you do not have to worry about height clearance. 4951
