My LCD monitor stopped working.  I purchased a capacitor repair kit, replaced all the capacitors except the 200V capacitor, then plugged it into power.  It's the big capacitor that failed, so the monitor is DOA.  I did get a singed finger and a free trip across the room, however.BTW, don't touch the big capacitor. 4951

I was going to, because all the "repair your monitor" videos involve people talking about buying a repair kit or capacitors.  The videos don't go as far as the actual job.  I see why, because it's really simple.  Unfortunately mine was not repairable. It went something like this.  "Hmmm, the monitor still isn't working.  That hum is coming from the big capacitor.  Let me feel it to make sure the top isn't ...why am I laying on the floor on the other side of the room?"Oh well, I found the right resolution on the back up 19" monitor to make it tolerable for use.  It was worth a try. 4951

That sounds like way too much trouble (and pain) for a couple hundred dollar monitor.  4951

It took 10 minutes to replace the capacitors with a $10 kit.  If the big one wasn't bad, the fix was worth it.  4951

Had you use the Flux capacitor, it would have worked.

What size (in micro-farads) is it? For the power supply, the microfarads, probably only around 220, is not as important as the voltage. Radio shack should have it. 4951

@jax:  I thought I was the only gomer thinking flux capacitor.  I mean, geez, we have the Delorean place practically in our backyards (BW and 59). 4951
