They had it at Kroger in Atascosita this week, that doesn't happen often.  The only place we have found it reliably is Central Market downtown.  4951

@Valorikx221: Carla, on THE CHEW, seems to be obsessed with it. 4951

This makes me think of Dana Carvey's "chopping broccoli" skit on SNL. 4951

@donnatella:

It is an acquired taste. Requires lots of garlic. 4951

@ET: I feel the same way about kale and cilantro. Just can't get into either, though many love them both.

@donnatella: Try this Bobby Flay recipe for kale.  It's excellent.  I use baby kale so I don't have to mess with stems.Ingredients1 1/2 pounds young kale, stems and leaves coarsely chopped3 tablespoons olive oil2 cloves garlic, finely sliced1/2 cup vegetable stock or water Salt and pepper2 tablespoons red wine vinegarDirectionsHeat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and cook until soft, but not colored. Raise heat to high, add the stock and kale and toss to combine. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Remove cover and continue to cook, stirring until all the liquid has evaporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste and add vinegar.

@donnatella:  I love both of those.  Never had broccoli rabe, but would like to try it.

I've never eaten or even seen broccoli rabe, but I love broccoli so maybe I'll try and find some.

Kale is, I'm finding, somewhat of an acquired taste. I love it in salad, with sliced brussel sprouts and other greens, but don't think I would like it cooked. But then I'm not a big fan of any dark greens that are cooked.

@Love2Run:  I agree.  I like raw kale in a salad.  I will eat cooked dark greens (turnip greens, collard greens, spinach, etc) but they are not near the top of my favorites list.I laugh every time the Food Channel has haricot verts.  They are just green beans, or snap beans, that I've been eating all my life.  Haricot is French for beans and vert is green.

@Love2Run: Broccoli rabe is not much like broccoli, tends to be a bit bitter.  Great sautéed with garlic and olive oil and some Italian sausage, served over pasta of some sort.

@Love2Run: Spinach in a pan with salt, garlic and olive oil is very yummy. Cook it down to the desired consistency. It's like the usual cooked spinach but it hasn't been cooked to death and remains bright green. Only takes a minute or two. 4951

Any Asian groceryCarry it all the timeDepending on what you are wanting to do however, Broccolini can make a great substitute, and HEB and Kroger carry that. 4951

@FoFa: Sort of the middle ground between broccoli and broccoli rabe.
