My niece is having 3 out and went for her consult today. She has dental insurance that covers 80% and she still owed $1500. Poor thing, almost had a heart attack. I told her I would loan her the money but I was shocked that it was that much. Maybe hers are more complicated or maybe it is Kingwood inflation. I know it wasn't that much when I had mine out, but that was probably 20 years ago, lol. 4951

@soxs mom: My son had his or last year and it was 2900. I called around to see if I could get a better price,  but no such luck.  Is she using an out of network provider and it only covers 50%? Why only 3 teeth out?  That's strange. What dentist?

She only has 3,  I guess that isn't that uncommon. She is using Dr Manon(sp?).  It is in network, that is why I was so shocked at the price. 4951

@soxs mom: Never heard of him. The cost seems very high. Maybe she should check out other dentists.

@soxs mom: That's expensive. My daughter had all four of hers surgically removed because they were totally impacted, and it cost us $2,100. We did not have any dental coverage at the time.

@soxs mom: Oh, I'm just seeing who she's using. That's the same doctor we used.

Had mine and son done thru an oral surgeon which did through med ins, not the dental. Would only do if med would accept, thankfully they did. Was about 6 years or so ago... 4951

Her regular medical wouldn't cover it, I did check that. But I am going to call the Oral Surgeon on Monday and  get a breakdown. She just got a credit card receipt from them which doesn't tell me anything. Of course, the dental insurance's (MetLife) website is down this evening. I will call them on Monday too. I know this stuff is expensive but sometimes I wonder what the point of having insurance is when it costs so much. 4951

@herron1345: Thanks, but that is the same group she is using. She is in a lot of pain so she pretty much had to get in fast and go with who was a PPO on her plan.

My son had all 4 removed in November, it was almost three grand, insurance covered about two, so had a grand left. This was at Atascocita 4951

Maybe she has to pay or meet a deductible with her insurance first and that's quoted in the price. That's how it was for my kids. 4951

I have had 2 removed/pulled by my regular dentist. $20 each after insurance. I hate how the dentists here send you to an oral surgeon for everything. I do have to go to a surgeon because I had a bad root canal done about 15 years ago, the cap came off, what was left of the tooth broke to reveal the a piece of the drill they used is hanging out of my jaw. Doesn't hurt but I need an implant in there and have that bit removed. 4951

I have decided that KW inflation is a real thing.
My oldest had his wisdom teeth removed about 6 years ago & we paid about $2,000 (after insurance).
My middle son had to have his removed while he was at school in Colorado about 2 weeks ago. My middle one called me with a toothache & I found an oral surgeon that could get him in right away. We had to pay $300 for the X-rays that day & since he had such a bad infection they went ahead & removed all 4 of them surgically the next day. The entire procedure including follow up visit was only $400. So after insurance our out of pocket was $700!

Quite a difference! 4951

Dr. Manon and Dr Stanton are partners. Dd had wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Manon. Awesome. Looks like I will be needing a root canal and will definitely use Manon 4951
