No, I think it is stupid for post a whiny thread about a dog barking during the day. Granted, 5:30 a.m. is a bit early, but she said it is mostly during the day. You can't expect complete peace and quiet during the day. Kids are outside playing, work crews are working, cars are driving by, and dogs are barking. You live in a neighborhood in close proximity to other people. If it is far enough away that she is unable to pinpoint it, it can't be that overwhelmingly loud. Turn on some music, get busy doing something to take your mind off of it. And, if you really want absolute silence, move to several acres of land out in the country, but even that's not 100%. I have a couple very vocal owls on my property that like to talk to each other at all hours. Maybe if I post a thread about it, they'll shut up.
@HotterThanYou: You sound like a real peach that is really uptight. Good for you and your owls! This dog barks starting at 5:30 in the morning and while it also barks during the day, it does bark at all hours of the night. I have asked a few neighbors and they agree that it is a nuisance, but they also do not know who the dog belongs to. I do not have an issue at all with common neighborhood noises (screaming kids, lawn crews, new home construction, cars driving by, kids playing in park, occasional dog barking,  etc). This yapping has gone on for weeks.Â
