Is it possible to make an extension cord with a three prong male dryer plug on one end and a female nema6-20p plug on the other end?

My limited knowledge says no. One is 240 and the other 120. I'm sure some electrical experts will chime in soon. 4951

@cgm10sne1: I have a unit that needs 230 voltage with the nema 6-20p plug.  That voltage is easily found at the electrical dryer outlet but it has the large three prong appliance plug.

@kingwooddiscgolf:  just be sure you wire it correctly for the two hots and the neutral or you could blow up or melt something

Yes, you can, but have to know the 2 hots and the neutral/ground. It would be rather simple to wire up a wall socket for it next to the dryer outlet. (Note; will not be up to code.) What 'unit" are you trying to power? 4951

@DanStanton:  BBC black body Little Buddy conveyor dryer for screen printing.  The belt motor is 110 no problem.  Heating panel is 230 with the nema 6-20p plug.

@DanStanton:  Excellent question!  It might be better to add a new 210 breaker(s) and run a line to a correct outlet.

What you are wanting to do is definitely not recommended. First problem is connecting two different wire sizes. Even if you used a j-box to tie the two cords together the disparate wires is a code issue. Appliance cords are rated lower than their cousins in nonmetallic cabling. Secondly, if you don't plug a configuration like that in correctly you will have exposed live parts (the prongs ) that could cause electrocution. It really would help to know exactly what you are trying to plug in to come up with a proper solution that would be safe. * The above information is from Holly Hobby's Husband, who owned an electrical contracting company for 10 years. And knows a bit about electricity.  Emoticon 4951
