Who wants to do a little welding for me this weekend? Do any of you(or someone you know) do your own welding on the side? I need a couple of things attached to my trailer. Nothing fancy...I just need it to be a good solid weld. I'll take care of the grinding, painting, etc.. Thanks for the help in advance, peeps! Emoticon  4951

welding is expensive ! we took a patio chair over to this guy that does welding , all it needed was the front of the arm welded so it would not wobble . It cost us $30.00 & it took all of 5 minutes ! 4951

@WJo: It's even more expensive when you take it to a shop, which is why I asked here. At a fabrication place, you pay the shop and the welder..I'm just trying to cut out the middle man. The tie-down bars I had installed were $150 and didn't take long either. And I am fully aware that it is a skilled trade and respect them for it, but I'm still going to try to find the best deal...Or maybe even help out someone who's needing some extra money?!

Why don't you bolt it on with stainless fasteners? 4951

@Ebola: I've thought about it, and would maybe do that as a last-ditch effort, but I'd feel better with a weld.

@BBQguy: I've never welded but if you fire that puppy up, I'm sure we can figure it out.  I'm game if you are...LOL.  4951

@BBQguy I will ask my son. He is in welding school. Maybe they can take it as a "project" or one of the instructors do side work. 4951

I had a couple of things welded by a KHS student as part of his class training. Did a good job. Maybe call the school? 4951

@BBQguy I talked to my son and he said that he is not sure he has the equipment to help you out. He has a small mig welder at home but it may not be sufficient to do the job you need done. He will talk to his instructor tonight and see if anyone does side jobs. He goes to the industrial welding academy at night and  is a senior in high school during the day. He is not allowed to removed the equipment from the school, but he said if you called the school they may be able to take it on as a project. ( School is located on Wallisville Rd.) He will find out more tonight. They are not open Friday, Saturday or Sunday so if it has to be done this weekend, that may not be an option for you. Sorry I'm not more help. 4951
