The King's Crossing apartments have been utilized as a training ground for the Porter Fire Department in the last few days. Porter's Chief Johnson placed a call to the new developers who were happy to oblige. The impending demolition of the complex has provided a unique opportunity for firefighters to train and perfect techniques they need when dealing with apartment fires. The department has used smoke machines to simulate conditions of a fire and have done a variety of exercises including cutting ventilation holes in the roofing. The only exception in their training process according to Chief Johnson is actually lighting the complex on fire. Source:http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/humble/news/invaluable-experience-porter-fire-department-undergoes-training-at-empty-kingwood/article_dd4956bf-cfcb-5636-a9b4-a31034f24e1f.html 4951
I read that the other day and thought that was a fantastic idea! I love it! It would have been even better if they would invite us to watch. I know my kids would have gotten a kick out of that (and me too)! 4951
