I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but this is how I have made them for years. Easy and very good (and popular):Dice three strips of bacon and fry. When about half done, add a small chopped onion. When the onion is slightly browned, pour off most of the grease. In an ovenproof casserole add bacon with about 2 Tablespoons of bacon fat (can omit the grease, but it really good with it), one can of pork and beans in tomato based sauce . two tablespoons of brown sugar, two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, two tablespoons of ketchup or barbecue sauce (if you like a little more kick), stir well. Bake about 45 min @ 350. Easy to double or triple the recipe to make larger casserole. 4951
Try Cajun Power for baking beans. You can find it at HEB in one of the first couple of aisles. Its in a  jar. You are supposed to mix it with canned beans and top with chopped up  raw bacon. Just bake until the bacon on top is cooked.. I actually use beanie weanies instead of regular canned beans. It comes out amazing! Kids love it because of the little weanies in the beans. 4951
I use dry one pound navy beans. I soak over night then cook until tender. Next I add 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup Steens cane syrup and a cup of Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce. My boys prefer a little browned ground turkey to bacon but you can add in your favorite. You can also add in chopped onions, peppers, etc as you wish. I've also gone totally from scratch using ketchup or tomato paste and more of the syrup and sugar. I find the seasonings as well as sugar and syrup are to taste. My original recipe was from Emerill on Food Network.com. Â Good Luck !!! 4951
