I make mine a pupcake every year. Or a treat of some sort. My parents grill ribs for theirs. I guess we are a pro-pet birthday family lol. If you love them like family, might as well treat them like such. 4951

Boobear had the same birthday as me so I would usually get him something.

Other than that I am hard pressed to think of something more stupid and a bigger waste of time. 4951

We actually celebrate both Gunny and Willie's birthdays on St. Patty's Day.......My hubbs usually grills them up a nice steak for their birthday dinner...(Last year they each got their own Rib-eye...)....And of course we get them a birthday dessert....(Last year it was a Coconut Cream Cake..)...And a few new toys....These dudes are literally our boys, our kids, our family, so we very much enjoy celebrating them...

I LOVE my dogs- but no we don't celebrate birthdays. They don't get any people food either. I have to say the dh shares the dregs of certain beers( the craft beers that have yeast in the bottum) but that's rare. At Christmas they get that frozen dog yogurt- dd brings it. A really long time ago a old timey vet that I totally loved and respected told us that dogs will start to die younger and younger because people ( like themselves) will over feed and under exercise them and they will be prone to cancer, thyroid and diabetes. Amazing he saw that coming- he told me that in the early 70'swhen I was interested in veterinary medicine as a teen. He was the vet to my and my parents' animals in Ohio. I spoil my dogs by training them and taking them for walks.
I don't judge others tho- if throwing their pet a BD party gives them a thrill - go for it 4951

My bachelor brother has never had kids so his two pooches are his family. He throws them a party every year and invites all their doggie friends. He has it catered with fancy doggie treats from some bakery that specializes in that. He also has some fab people food too (thank goodness) and lots of cocktails for the dog parents. There are even favors for the doggies. On the invitations he asks for no gifts but instead a donation to a local pet shelter.Last year he used a picture of all of the "guests" gussied up (some with bow ties) for his Christmas card. It isn't for me, but there are certainly worse things than loving your pet that much.  4951
