For Macro photography, you have such a small depth of field (DOF) you can't get everything in focus with one shot.Example, this egg shell I found (last spring actually) been saving it for this chance.Basically you take a bunch of photos with the focus plane shifted (up or down) the object to capture just that part in focus, then use software to put the focus parts back together to form 1 image all in focus. Here is the front of the egg, you can see the out of focus area in the back. This is image 2 of 10 I took. And here is image 9 of 10 I took showing the back in focusAnd after using some freeware from the web to put them together, the final result, plus a small adjustment in Photoshop elements. 4951

not quite the same but related....The end of out of focus pictures: The $1599 camera that allows users to change the focus AFTER a picture has been takenUsers can choose where to focus simply by tapping on an area of the picturePhotographers
can adjust aspects of images that were previously fixed, such as focus,
tilt, perspective shift and depth of field.Illum camera from same firm that developed the Lytro, which used an early version of the technologyhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2610612/The-end-focus-pictures-The-1599-camera-allows-users-change-focus-AFTER-picture-taken.html 4951

@FoFa: I assume you use a tripod to keep the camera positioned for multiple shots?  I like objects in sharp focus.  Nice pics. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: A tripod and Focusing Rail since I change the camera distance about 1/16th-1/8th of an inch for each picture.
Using the focus ring throws the camera position off, even with a large tripod like I have.Plus I have to set a 2 second shutter delay to allow the whole thing to stop shaking from the slight movement also created by adjusting the focus rail. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: Well that one was about the size of a nickel, so it was larger.
I'm still experimenting with the smaller ones. 4951
