...proper music gig today.  A few years ago I played a friend's birthday party but it was just me messing about and nothing formal.  Of course, I play open mics all the time but there's never much of an expectation there, either.  Today I played a real gig at one of the local retirement centers.  The lady at the desk said that it's a rare occasion when no one gets up and walks out and I held them all in their seats for a full hour.  They asked me to come back, so I guess it went well enough.I don't have any aspirations of ever doing music as more than a side hobby, but it was fun and I'm looking forward to doing more of it. 4951

Mostly country.  I might toss a pop song in once in a while but my primary flavor is Texas country mixed with some older mainstream country.  Pretty much everything I write fits in the Texas country genre.Today, since my crowd was all 70+ years old I stuck with Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins, etc with a bit of Alabama and some of my own mixed in. 4951

I love old people!! They must have really liked you, otherwise they would have definitely told you. The elderly have no filter, like kids. 4951

I already asked! He said his son would be better but I don't think his son really wants to see our parties. 4951
