Very little chance this strike that was called at 12:01AM Sunday morning had little to do with the price of gas. I work for a major refinery in Houston that is on strike. The issue with OT is forced OT. I just read that Lyondell Basell was/is the leader of the pack. Â I guess their list of grievances is far longer than the other refinery's/plants etc...
@tatertot58: I agree that there will be little, if any, effect on the price of gas unless someone panics. Most Refineries are now so automated, it's easy for staff members to take over and run the refinery just fine. History has shown that the supply of gas stays steady during strikes.OT has been an off and on again issue for a long time. The Unions don't want companies to use maintenance contractors for OT, but then they complain when they get forced to work OT. However, this strike was called by the national USW, so it has nothing to do with any local issues.
