What is your dogs bed?  I'm tired of forking over $$ to buy beds that don't wash well, don't last long. I'm thinking about buying a mini crib mattress and sheets. Hoping the doggies will share, they do sometimes now with two beds. 4951

We have 3 toddler mattresses spread throughout the house for our hounds. We got 1 of them from our youngest's old bed and 2 used from CL. The wifey picks up fitted sheets on clearance whenever she can.  Emoticon  4951

Got thick memory foam dog beds online cheaper than in store.  Went to HAAM and bought childrens sleeping bags and threw them on top.  Dogs like to snuggle down on the sleeping bags which I wash frequently.  They still get the support from the beds (one of mine has arthritis) but the beds stay clean.  The sleeping bags are CHEAP! 4951

I use outdoor cushions for patio chairs as dog beds. They are water repellant, so I hose them off with laundry soap and borax so they don't get stinky. I throw a small 3.00 wal mart throw in there for extra comfort. I never heard of anyone doing this before. I thought of it last year when I was washing the dog beds. 4951

I never thought of a crib mattress!   My boy has hip dysplasia and I made him a bed on the floor next to me(we just have a mattress on the floor).  I will have to look into that.  The girl sleeps between us on the bed.  Brad's Deals have doggy beds on there at least once a week for about 50-60% off. 4951

I have two crate fitting dog beds that are orthopedic. The cover zips off & washes well. I got a deal on them from wags.com. My baby girl is 135 and has been using them for a couple of years and it doesn't form an indentation from where she lays.Both jumbo size cost about $70. It's usually more to buy just one bed for her. 4951

@thegoodwife: My boy eats everything in the crate...I eel so bad for him b/c of his hip dysplasia but I am too afraid to try anything in his crate.

My Homie (185 lbs) sleeps on a Sealy Posturpedic Crib mattress for the last 5 years. The only thing that holds up for him Jan changes all the bedding every Sunday in this house and that includes His.Costco had them marked down to 50 bux when I bought them. Those other large size "dog mattress" type of beds would only last around 6 months or so and always cost 55-75 bux.  Cant beat a crib mattress. 4951

@ OkieDokie It seems alot of dogs do that. Some even eat the ones just on the floor.  We use one in her crate the other is in our bedroom just on the floor.  When she was a pup she chewed on my pretty new bedroom suit and did a job on the dining room furniture and I had drapes in the dining room window that were pulled back and damn if she didn't eat the bottom of them. 4951

@thegoodwife: We were wondering why he was returned so many times-the first time in a crate, he ate the bottom tray.  He will still eat almost anything in sight if given the chance.  We can't put anything in his crate so I made my DH move it to a carpeted area so he at least has some cushioning.

@Okiedokie: Ours is exactly the same way.  She cost me $200 bucks at the vet when we first got her because she ate a blanket we had put in there for her.  She loves to lay on the couch but once in the kennel she gets nothing but her Kong.  Makes me feel so bad when I see her using the side of the crate as a pillow but I can't put anything in there.  She can't have any kind of stuffed animal or that is destroyed and completely eaten.  If I give her any kind of chew toy like a rawhide or antler she gets fixated on it and will just sit and chew it until she finishes it or you take it away.  She eats everything outside, acorns, pinecones branches anything she can grab and she eats her food so I don't get it.

@FoFa: This dog will be 2 in July and we have had her a year this last September.  She has cost me a small fortune already.  I need to start finding hunters who want to get rid of their antlers because they are not cheap and she can go thru one in just a few hours over a few days.  I think if I ever put that in her crate she would never sleep because she would just chew it all night..lol

because they are not cheap

@dotti573: Cow toes.
They stink when they chew them however. But they are typically not too expensive. 4951
