It's the first time an ad has been pulled from the Superbowl.GoDaddy has decided to pull their ad from the Super Bowl and remove it from YouTube after causing an uproar on social media. The
company released their Super Bowl ad early, and it certainly has people
talking-- but they're probably not saying things the company wants to
hear. Thousands took to Twitter and Facebook to let the company know they're outraged. The
commercial, titled "Journey Home," features a cute puppy that's been
separated from its family on its journey home, but the ending is what's
causing the uproar, when you find out the owners are happy to see the
puppy because they just sold it on a website built using GoDaddy.A change.org petition to pull the ad garnered tens of thousands of signatures in a matter of a few hours.GoDaddy responded Tuesday evening on its website, saying:"This
morning we previewed GoDaddy's Super Bowl spot on a popular talk show,
and shortly after a controversy started to swirl about Buddy, our puppy,
being sold online. The responses were emotional and direct. Many people
urged us not to run the ad…. The net result? We are pulling the ad from
the Super Bowl. You'll still see us in the Big Game this year, and we
hope it makes you laugh. Finally, rest assured, Buddy came to us from a
reputable and loving breeder in California. He's now part of the GoDaddy
family as our Chief Companion Officer and he's been adopted permanently
by one of our longtime employees."The ad is intended to make fun
of Budweiser, which has been teasing a Super Bowl commercial featuring a
puppy-- GoDaddy's spot uses many similar shots. But taken out of
context, the commercial can be quite outrageous.Still looking for your dog, @Budweiser? @GoDaddyBuddy can help by building you a website. #bestbuds— GoDaddy (@GoDaddy) January 23, 2015Some folks on Twitter, including the SPCA, voiced their opinions on the ad and the company's decision to pull it.So glad that GoDaddy is NOW not going to air 'lost-puppy' Super Bowl ad...disturbing that they thought it was clever #GoDaddyPuppy#notfunny— Cathleen M. Hunt (@CathleenMHunt) January 28, 2015If you can buy a puppy online and have it shipped to you the next day, it's likely you're supporting inhumane breeding. #GoDaddyPuppy— The SPCA (@animalrescuers) January 27, 2015Glad #GoDaddyPuppy ad was pulled from #SuperBowlXLIX#AnimalRights#adoptdontshop#dontbuywhileothersdie#sharepic.twitter.com/iOZbwnoKNe— Fort McMurray SPCA (@FMSPCA) January 28, 2015@GoDaddy you should also make a donation to the @ASPCA#GoDaddyPuppy— Ashlie Dranginis (@adranginis) January 28, 2015 4951

Really,  I saw the ad and to me I really think it was pretty clear.  The ad promoted a breeder selling puppies on a website.   If it was intended to make fun of Budweiser and was a teasing commercial someone really missed the mark IMHO.  I am very happy they pulled it.

So they released it "early" and now people are talking about it...I'm pretty sure that was the intent. Score one for Madison avenue. 4951

Liberals trying to "control" the Media again. People have a choice to either buy from a responsible breeder or purchase one at a rescue or shelter. Buyers that prefer to purchase online from a responsible breeder are carefully screened. The puppy has to be over 8 weeks of age ( most times they are 10 weeks and up with appropriate shots/wormings). The parents have been seen by vets and most appropriately screened for genetic issues. The puppy will have to be seen by the breeders vet and given a health certificate and cleared to fly. The new owners have decided on a particular breed due to its characteristics they prefer and they stay in touch with the breeder. The breeder also requires a signed contract stating that the puppy be returned or responsibly placed in the event they can no longer care for the pet(extremely rare this happens). That is WHY you almost NEVER see a true purebred at the rescues in Petsmart or Petco or local rescues; they mostly offer pit or lab mixes from irresponsible owners or just mix mixes. Breeders do NOT have to "bash" PETA, SPCA, ect. Like they do to breeders. Some of these Animal Rights groups are considered to be Domestic Extremist Terrorists by the FBI. Most money donated to these groups NEVER gets to the care of the animals! By the way, ALL responsible breeders do RESCUE and donate to many groups. Don't be SUCKERED in by the LIBERAL MEDIA; do your own research. On another note, it takes a "BOATLOAD" of money to raise and provide for a "well bred" litter of puppies; i.e. Campaigning the parents to their titles, genetic screening. Vet maintenance, time and proper facilities, ect. People who PREFER to purchase a PUREBRED should NOT be Subjected to the "SMALL MINDED" Anti Breeder Supporters whose main purpose is to IRRADICATE ALL PETS. That's my belief and well founded opinion. NO GROUP is going to tell me or any other intelligent well informed purchaser WHERE or WHO to purchase their dog/puppy from; whether you PURCHASE from a rescue or breeder. 4951

I'm going to make a guess and say there are many more people who could not care less where the dogs come from. The commercial accomplished exactly what it intended. If someone where to search for hosting, the very first site they will find will be godaddy. Everyone e who is talking about it, even in a negative way, is helping. 4951

I'm one of them. If I want a dog, I'll buy it online if it's the one I want.

Damn you godaddy for making a commercial about selling dogs on the internet.Commercials about under age girls, prostitution,  drugs, sex.   NO PROBLEM!I like all their commercials, we are too uptight in this country anyways, we need more flamboyant, outrageous commercials,  but for people to be in an uproar about puppies but not give a crap about their other stuff is asinine. 4951

How many dogs (including puppies and purebreds with great temperaments) are put to death EVERY single day, and people continue to breed them because their dog's ability to reproduce gets them some spare change in their pocket.

Kind of rare for me, but I was actually watching a football game a few weeks back.A commercial came on for Buick.  The husband was portrayed as an idiot, the wife was taunting him because he couldn't afford such a nice car as her "hot" neighbor.  Husband winces and walks away, wife winks at neighbor and smiles wistfully. As a man, that didn't inspire me to want to buy a Buick.  And this was during a football game.  "Stupid man" style commercials should stay on the Oprah or Lifetime channels. At least it was better than those Jareds commercials.   4951

@doddlebug: Unfortunately a lot of people who breed dogs are not responsible breeders. They do not take their puppies to a vet and do not screen adopters. They are only in it for the almighty dollar.  That is the problem, not the responsible breeders who genetically test their breeding dogs, breed to breed standard etc etc. There are a lot of red flags when responding to an ad online. eg will the "breeder" allow you to visit the puppy in their home? Allow you to meet both parents?  Show you legitimate vet records or just give you a hand written vaccine record (if you are lucky) with a vaccine bottle sticker on it?  Will they guarantee their puppies past 24 hours which means nothing?  Do they want to meet you half way for your convenience?... that is probably the biggest red flag of all by the way,  Will a pet store give you access to the breeder of the dog (highly unlikely as most are shipped in from out of state)?  If you can find a reputable breeder willing to provide proof that they follow AKC guidelines and provide references then great.  A lot don't or can't. 4951
