So there's this little pup who is going to be living with us for a bit. He is super sweet, very well behaved, smart, & we all adore him, but every time he gives me puppy kisses (& he does love giving kisses), I break out in red splotches in the places he's kissed. He's a hypoallergenic breed, too. What can I do to prevent splotches in the future? Treat then quickly once I've already got them? Are there pills I can take? Is there a dog god I need to be praying to? All suggestions welcomed. 4951

May you be allergic to his food or something he chews on? Unless you are just allergic to dogs... 4951

Nope... you're just doomed to be splotchy! I'd say avoid the puppy but nobody can resist puppy kisses. It just ain't natural. 4951

Sounds like you might be breaking out in hives. Might have an allergy to dogs. Benadryl cream helps me. --that and taking zyrtec every night. I actually did allergy shots for a while after getting our "hypo allergenic" shihtzu. From what I've read there's no hypo allergenic breeds, just dogs that have less dander. 4951

If other dog kisses don't bother you, it is most likely something it is taking or eating.Meds that are working their way through it's system, or a food that bothers you.But I'm a computer guy, not a vet. 4951
