www.har.com is GREAT. It lists most homes for sale, except those for sale privately.
Great schools, low crime.
Try to move any time other than the summer if you can. Summer will not give you a good first impression. I moved to texas in the dead heat of the summer and thought we would all strike out from the heat. It is no joke, outrageously hot. Like, walk from your house to your car and you are already dripping with sweat sort of hot.
I would recommend taking a Texas based defensive driving class online before moving. Where we moved from, pedestrians do NOT have right of way as they do here, and we sorta almost ran a couple people over while in the learning process.
Buy lots of bug spray. The mosquitoes are like straight out of the Amazon. They carry disease and the only thing I feel works is Avon's Bug Guard. So, get an Avon lady.
The roaches. Sweet Jesus in Heaven. Buy some wasp spray for them as these are HUGE tree roaches and they F L Y. Wasp spray can reach them from across the room. Also, a big, heavy book works wonders for squashing the hellions.
The trails here are GORGEOUS. Well, they can be. I find them to be one of the greatest selling points. You can walk or ride a bicycle, but watch where you step because ever so often you may be walking in the tracks of someone who lets their dog poop of the sidewalk.
Don't go to Walmart. If you have to, ONLY go to the small one actually located in Kingwood. The other local Walmarts are filled with crack heads and meth addicts.
There are about a million different churches to choose from. There are ten on each street just about. So, take your pick.
