In the thread about the women caught on camera having an emotional breakdown...everyone has a breaking point. But because some people know her, it's suddenly ok and explainable.

Still, there's no excuse for that beahavior. Says a lot about a person, the way they react to situations. 4951

@ctl74:

Just found it ironic that people were so quick to jump all over the women in the video. But once one of their own went off the deep end there was suddenly a rational explanation for the behavior.

I totally lost control of my emotions last week. I hit my wall. Between being pregnant, moving away from all my family, a toddler needing a surgical procedure on her eye, a sick dog barfing all over my house for reasons unknown...I lost it. Cried uncontrollably for about an hour.

My point is...it happens to the best of us. But to jump one person's case and say "no excuses", but then turn around and create excuses for another isn't fair. 4951

Must've missed something. All I know is until you walk in someone's shoes...
When my DS was young I got some pretty nasty comments. I always turned back on them. With something like-" I am doing the best I can with this child and his special needs. I do not just let him act like this and I'd hazard a guess that there are more rules and boundaries at my house than yours. I be more than happy to let you try your hand at handling home for 2 hours- just 2 because I'm sure that's all you could handle- I'll even throw in $50 dollars if you can make it the whole 2 hours and to cover damages." I always said it in a calm friendly manner while trying to corral the Tazmanian Devil. Funny I never got a taker.
I have also had a meltdown when I was pregnant that has become a laughing matter in our family. It involved stomping a package of Oreos into dust- outside in the driveway. My dh took my dd ( 1 year old) on a bike ride to the store to get me my Oreos- 15 minutes there and back. He finally shows up 2 hours later- he stopped by his parents and didn't think to call( way before cell phones ect). I was sure they had been hit and killed!! It may have seemed justified on my part as I was worried sick - but it was totally inappropriate and I am sure glad it was not taped. 4951

I worked with someone who was on fertility drugs. You want to talk about emotional and mood swings. Well weekend  morning she throw a tantrum at her husband's refusal to go out to breakfast. She said it taught her one thing. If her husband didn't leave then he never will. The kids are grown and they are still together. 4951

@Jpgurl:

Amen! Stomping a package of Oreo's actually sounds beautifully therapeutic!!

There was a tread (now locked) where it appeared a member lost her cool and said some seriously nasty things towards other users. That's what I was referring. 4951

Ohhhh. I missed that- must've been at night- I go to bed early. Well I hope there are apologies and everyone moves forward. I like this site because the people are nice. I've just about stopped at the unamed site- even people I know in RL from there can get quite nasty on that site. It's just a chat board no use getting worked up and fighting. Life is way too short 4951

@taramay: I never personally created excuses for anyone's behavior - just said it didn't seem like them.

Regardless, can we all lose our cool at one time or another? Absolutely. There are no excuses for reacting in public like the way the person videotaped did. Nor the reaction of another person that we read about yesterday either.

I'm sure in both cases, once everyone calmed down, they're probably feeling a little silly about how they handled life, whether it was due to circumstances out of their control or not. 4951

So true. I know after I called my husband bawling like a baby I felt a little goofy. But he was sweet enough to come home with a card and chocolate. Haha! 4951

@Jpgurl:  Oh no!  The Oreos, the Oreos!  Won't someone think of the Oreos!Actually, that is a good way to vent frustration.... as long as you do it without a crowd watching!  Although you could invite me to watch!The woman's ranting about missing a ferry was immature and a lack of self-control.  If she wanted to scream about it, she should do it when she's alone or with her family or friends.As to yesterdays thread.... it's never a good idea to phone, text, or get on a message board when you've had too much to drink.  Since she is a friend and the thread was out of character for her, my first concern was that she was OK.  Some of the comments she made were inappropriate, but hopefully, she has learned from that and won't repeat it.  Being friends doesn't mean you have to like everything your friend does, but you try to be supportive when they mess up.
