No sympathy for anyone bringing an aggressive behaving dog into the public.  Control your pets or stay home.  4951

@donnatella: All of the witnesses said the same thing " the dogs were playing" and the dog he shot was just a pup. I dare not mention the breed or it could start a literary melee.

I heard at my vets this morning that it was a Pit Bull and had shown aggressive behavior before.  It was not a puppy; it was a two year old adult that was getting rough with the other dog.  Go to www.click2houston.com to see the story.  AmStaff (type of Pit Bull) adult. 4951

Witnesses say the dog was not being aggressive and no animal or person was in danger. Fear mongering and knee jerk reactions is what caused this. It's a total display of pure BS and the man better be Damn glad he didn't shoot a person in his rage. 4951

@doddlebug: where in that story does it say he showed aggression before. And he shot the dog, the dog dropped, the man then walked closer up and shot the already downed dog two more times and you condone this??????? Of course you do.....sickening.

From everything I've read, all the eyewitnesses said the dog was in no way being aggressive.  I'm not sure what would possess someone to shoot a dog at a dog park if there was no aggression being shown, but it that's the case, this guy needs to never own or carry a gun again. 4951

@doddlebug: There are a few variations of bull and terrier mix or half and half as they used to say in the old days. Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire, Bull Terrier, Boston Terrier ( bred down Pit bull) and Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I've been around all of them and I have to say the most docile is the Staffordshire Bull Terrier which is also one of the smaller of the bull and terrier mix probably why some thought it was a pup. I seriously doubt that this dog was being aggressive.

in an article on KPRC it calls it a staffordshire bullterrior.    Also on FB for the news sites people who go to that park noted this dog and owner have been kicked out numerous times for aggressive behavior to other pets. Yes some breeds play harder, but that is up to the owner to control, you cannot expect another owner to know your animal is just playing.  Also the owner was not near their pet when the animal was roughhousing. One owner responsible, one not.  Too bad the responsible owner is the one feeling the hate and the other not.

@Stealth83: you are seriously calling a guy who pulls out a gun in a dog park and fires it, killing another person's pet 'the responsible owner'?
