I've been known to hose down a constantly barking neighbors dogs with one of those high powered nozzles. It didn't do any good, the dogs still barked, the neighbors still didn't give a ****. And didn't even notice that i was hosing them down. But it made me feel better. (This was after calling the cops and trying to talk to them about it.) Face it, some dog owners just don't care. 4951

Any chance you live in Auburn Trails?I ask because we put our dogs out during the day...anywhere from 6AM til about 4 or 5 PM.  The little one is a miniature dachshund and has a loud bark. 4951

Ugh I'm so sorry!! The neighbor's who back up to us
Have dog who they will let outside throughout the day, too, in any weather! The poor thing will cry for hours in the rain. Then, when I let my dog and the foster out, the other dog barks at then which causes mine to bark.

Forget it when the garbage men come.... Let us know what happens if you calm the cops.

Between me trying to work from home snd the husband sleeping (he works nights), it can get very aggravating! 4951

we use to have a neighbor a few years back that let their dogs howl & bark 24 / 7 , we called the cops , tried talking to them to no avail.....then I found a siren at a local garage sale & I put it out in the back yard & every time the dogs started to howl & bark my siren was turned on . One day the neighbor came over & asked me to "please turn the siren off because their baby could not sleep . I told her the reason the siren was on was because her dogs barked & howled 24 /7 & the siren drowned them out .She left & the dogs were taken inside & after that we never had any more noise problems. Seems they liked their peace & quiet too (LOL). 4951

@donnatella:

I have never had the cops show up after a barking dog complaint that i know of. If they did it would have been hours later when I was either asleep or not home. I called the cops at least 5 times on the dogs I eventually hosed down. Yes I did speak to the neighbors first and they said they couldn't stop them from barking and I was going to have to deal. I couldn't sit on my back patio while they owned the dogs which for some reason was less than a year. Thank goodness! Possibly too many complaints? God, I disliked those neighbors and those stupid yappy dogs. 4951

@imadork81....In my, but humble opinion, my friend, before getting the po-po's involved (like they don't have enough legit concerns to focus on) I would suggest writing a letter, mentioning the noise complaint in detail, and the fact that you've physically went to their residence trying to speak to them directly, to no avail, and that you'd appreciate some common courtesy and ground regarding this matter........Leave it on their door, with your phone number, and remain optimistic that this can be resolved, easily, and maturely, between neighbors....  4951

The police get involved if you are in the city limits when there is a disturbance of the peace and allowing a barking dog to continue to bark and telling neighbors to "just deal" is a disturbance that requires the authorities to intervene.  Yes, it is lower priority, but unless it is a hoppin' Friday or Saturday night in the hood, there is someone available to respond, especially if there are repeated calls.

People who toss their dogs outside to bark KNOW they are a disturbance and they put them out because THEY are sick of listening to it.  They are rude, selfish and there is rarely any reasoning with people like that. 4951
