on descaling a Keurig, what do you use? vinegar, dip-it?  There's no other way than cup by cup? My machine is about 4-5 yrs old. It's telling me to descale. I've done it in the past, but just wondering if there is a better and easier way. 4951

No easy way. Yes have to do cup by cup. Before we got our reverse osmosis on the kitchen sink we used to just by the large ozarka water to fill it. Never use city water. Put about 1/2 cup to the full tank and run it out cup by cup. Then run straight water thru til empty. I've only has to do ours about once a year now 4951

@ray totally agree. I bought a $10 dollar mr coffee 10 years ago. People complain about making 10 cups of coffee. I can make 10 cups cheaper than 1 Keurig cup. I just dump the unwanted coffee or warm it up later to drink with a meal. Old stuff works well no need being stylish. 4951

I would throw the Keurig out the window if I was allowed, but the coffee drinker in the house wont let me. I drink 1 cup in the morning & I'm done.  I have a single serve little coffee maker at work that I run water thru for tea. I do have a second one like the one at work that I think I'm going to start using.   It takes coffee from a can. No paper filters just a little screened like filter in it. It works for me. I use to a 4 cup at work to run water thru, but I gave it to a friend who had one & when she moved and went to take hers out of the box her carafe fell & broke. 4951

@thegoodwife: This is what we do:

Fill the resevor with straight vinegar.
Cycle it though until halfway empty then let it soak for about 4 hours.
Then cycle the rest out. 4951

@donnatella: I did do straight vinegar but didn't let it soak. I ran about 3 more vinegars with distilled water thru it. Then 3 straight water. So far so good. We'll see how long it last. It is the crummy city water here.

Who the f' uses city water to make their coffee!

You spent **** loads of money to make good coffee and you run unfiltered city water though it?

This is Kingwood! If you made it this far away from a mobile home park, don't b half assing the coffe, it only leads you back. 4951

I use a countertop filter, $10 from walgreens, carriages are $5 apiece, 3 for $15, use about 2 or 3 a year. No problems with ours needing descaling. 4951
