There was a black man outside of the neighborhood Walmart this morning selling stuff for $8 a pop saying that the money was to go to uniforms and stuff of that nature to Kingwood High school. He didn't say which school and he didn't say what sport he coached. He said that he was with some of the kids but they were across the street eating because it was so early in the morning, and "you know how kids are". I didn't think much of it until I drove by Walmart after picking up my daughter and still didn't see any kids from the high school with him. Wonder if this is legit? I called Walmart and asked to speak to a manager there but they put me on hold for over 20 minutes so I hung up. I just don't want to see anybody get scammed out of there money if he isn't legit. 4951
Seems like if it's a fundraiser for the kids that the kids are obligated to be front and center. Breakfast across the street in shifts or a few go buy it and bring it back for the rest. Just from what you said it seems like a scam. 4951

Good question - there were a couple similar-sounding people there a couple of weeks ago. I told them I didn't need the cookies (or whatever it was) and they said I could just make a donation. I declined.  I'm the same as Fallon with the GS cookies. lol 4951
Yeppers, I give to no one outside that store. I bet most are scams. If they have no type of sign, which is pretty normal with the people outside there, I'll be leaving with all of my money. Most legit organizations do have some type of small banner or sign... I bet any of the local HS's have some type of sign they could use. I bet it is the same guy from a few weeks ago that was there asking for donations for a lollipop. There was no way to identify where your money was going. He just uses a card table. 4951
My guess this is bogus. 2 years ago we had a parent at AMS that wanted to buy uniforms for football. He had to do it for all middle schools UIL rules. And he did. 4951
Also. Units can't be purchased by the booster club. So. I don't think it could be under fundraiser. I'm almost certain that has to come from district budget or private donation. 4951
