Instead of just asking someone else.  THINK first, before you ask.  Use your own abilities to problem solve and ask someone if you are truly stumped. 4951

In some situations it's better to ask than to spend an hour trying to figure it out.Was this post about something specific? 4951

With so much access to technology and information, we are losing our ability to remember things.  I also think schools should do a better job of teaching problem solving. 4951

@fcabanski: An hour of digging is not efficient or necessary. That's not at all what I meant. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: We have so many passwords and usernames to remember.

@sapphire:

I use the same or variation of the same for everything and have since I created my first Yahoo account. Not safe at all. 4951

@sapphire: Too many of my accounts have different username and password requirements.  I have to keep a list of them!  I have 30+ accounts for internet access.

@Retired_Engineer: I am ashamed at how many phone numbers I do not have memorized. I know my mom's home and cell and both of my sister's numbers, because they have had the same numbers forever and I used to dial them from a land line. But I seriously have to look up my husband's number to write it down on forms.I have a friend who was riding with another friend, trying to get to a large retail store. They were using GPS. The passenger kept telling the driver, "I see it. Turn here." And she was arguing, "But the GPS has not told me to turn yet."  After hearing this story, I decided I would try, intentionally, not to use a map or GPS to find my destination most of the time. I want to challenge myself by pretending it's 1995 again.

I was wondering when the weekly "donnatella complain" thread would show up. 4951
