The man who pushed strict Republican agendas here in Texas, now that he's out of office and looking at another presidential run, calls for bipartisanship!  How ridiculous can one person be?!?Congress and the President need to work together for whats best for the country, so I appaud the call for bipartisanship, but coming out of Perry's mouth is absurd.I would never vote for Perry as president. 4951

Hogwash.Congress has been compromising with Obama since he became President.  The problem has been compromise with liberal ideals.  Compromise always means liberals get their way.Conservatives want to shrink government.  Liberals want to grow it.  The compromise between moderates and liberals has been grow government a little bit each compromise.  Compromise with what's wrong results in wrong.Liberals keep saying the GOP needs moderates to win the Presidential election.  They tried moderates in 2008 and 2012.  The result was two losses.Perry's Conservative stances in TX would be a plus in a Presidential run.  Too bad he's going the Romney route. 4951

@fcabanski:  Consevatives want to shrink goverment and I support that.  The problem is the Republican party talks about reducing government while they actually increase government (like the Dems). If "Compromise always means liberals get their way" AND "Compromise with what's wrong results in what's wrong" AND "Liberals keep saying the GOP needs moderates to win the Presidential election"....this indicates that the Republicans must be the WORST political party in history!  This means that they don't know how to negotiate/compromise and that they let the Dems make their critical decisions for them.  Negotiating and compromise means that BOTH sides get a bit of what they want.  Don't get me wrong.  I am fiscally conservative and for less governmental intrusion in our lives, but I am moderate-to-liberal on several social issues.  I lean Republican on many issues but NEITHER party really represents me or the people of this country. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: Not in today's world of politics. Like you I'm moderate to liberal but what I see taking place in today's government is nothing more than cronyism and collaboration for personal gain.

Like him or not, Texas has a great track record and reputation around the country for what the country is most hurting for: jobs. The current dip in oil prices notwithstanding, the average voter, an most are embarrassingly uninformed, may take a liking to him. 4951

@fcabanski: Good point.   I think the GOP doesn't know WHAT it is.  It is a mix of hard-line Tea Party ultra conservatives,  regular conservatives, and some moderates.  Perry expects to run as a moderate and, if elected, will turn conservative?  People are getting tired of that type of deviance and manipulation in Congress and the White House.  Campaign promises and positions mean nothing once the election is over.
