New Concept Art:Kings Creek is the newest proposed master planned community coming to Kingwood. The billion dollar project is being developed by David Development Partners and will be located west of Highway 59 and just south of Lone Star College on Sorters Road. The main thoroughfare, Kingwood Place Drive, has been approved by the city of Houston to extended into the community. This will allow the developer to break ground early this year with the goal of having primary building structures complete within 18 months. The development of the 63 acres of land will focus on things like sustainability and conservation while reducing the carbon footprint. David Development has mentioned amenities like:- five to seven acres of public parks- five miles of jogging trails- sports fields- a fitness center- fruit and nut bearing trees (citrus, pear, pecan, walnut, etc)- natural water features- solar lighting- ionizing rain water recapture systems- rooftop organic gardens- drainage improvementsDavid Development is planning to bring 1,200 units of garden style multifamily housing, one million square feet of office space, two luxury hotels and a fresh take on the retail and restaurant experience to our area.  David Development is hoping that Kings Creek will be a premier destination to stop off for travelers on their way to visit Grand Texas Theme Park slightly to our north in New Caney near 242. David McCarble, the owner of the development company, has presented his ideas to the Lake Houston Redevelopment Authority who have approved an agreement to repay the company 14 million plus interest in public improvement costs once Kings Creek has been completed. Sources:http://www.kingscreekdevelopment.com/http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/humble/news/redevelopment-authority-approves-improvement-agreement-with-kings-creek/article_7f888ac8-7e4d-5d51-a70b-444dfd51a1f0.html 4951

"Edible Community" - now that's a first! I didn't understand what it meant until I read further. Nut and fruit trees... The land of the fruits and the nuts! 4951

here i was under the impression that traffic was already a cause for complaint...add to that two other new subdivisions on sorters toward 1314 and that road will be pretty well impassable at peak traffic times 4951

@Woofkatz: Everything has already been clear cut over there. We drove down Sorters last weekend and nothing but a huge area of sandy soil.  Similar look to the clear cutting at Hwy 59 & Townsend. Not a tree left standing.

In response to BRAT's comment above: Agree. It's clear the developer wasn't around during the '94 flooding on San Jac River, nor have they spoken with anyone who was around at that time. The old Loop 494 trestle bridge (now pedestrian only) was inundated, Eastex Freeway bridges were closed, extensive backwater flooding on both sides of the river from Lake Houston all the way to FM242. It will happen again. 4951

@kingport:  OMG don't get me started….i feel the same way. Especially after we had to opportunity to expand kw drive. Majority voted against it :/
