@sapphire -- Probably, yes -- charitable / non-profit organizations get extra leeway on KDC. What are they selling? 4951

@KingwoodDotCom: It is fundraiser season for many groups. Are you ready to invite that onto the General Forum? Every other thread will be a fundraiser post. Or do you mean it's alright for the classifieds? 4951

@donnatella @sapphireThat offer has always been on the table, and we haven't been flooded yet.But it's got to be legit fundraiser...100% of the proceeds have to go to a legitimate or registereed non-profit organization...we don't allow the "10% of each sale goes to such-and-such charity" -type sales.@sapphire -- Send me a PM if you want to verify before posting. 4951

@KingwoodDotCom:  School fundraisers share the profit with the school.  The product company take a large part of the profit, then gives the remainder (30-40%) to the school.  Yes, the school benefits and so do the kids, indirectly.  We discovered how little goes to the schools and we stopped participating in them. 4951

I HATE the school fundraisers that force kids and parents to rush to friends, family and most of all, the parents' co-workers. I quit participating years ago. 4951

@mpjp0907: Definitely. Those individually wrapped mint chocolates are the best, but are rarely included in the varieties for sale. The bars are good too, but I like bite sized chocolate to help keep myself in line!

@Love2Run:

The worst ones, IMO, are the ones where the kids fill out the names and addresses of family members so the company can mail them solicitations. For each address they submit, the kid gets a charm that goes on a lanyard. My kids always felt so left out, but I'm not about to make all my family and friends hate me by adding their names to a mailing list! 4951

What if you just wrote down random addresses found in the white pages? Perhaps those in River Oaks would like to receive solicitation.

I always am conflicted on these.  If the kids are supposed to be raising the money why do the parents feel the need to try to sell the items?

@Stealth83: Because the parents don't want to listen to their kid cry for days because he/she didn't reach sticker AND cheap dollar store cracker jacks box toy level.....same reason parents pay 19.99 for a scholastic book they can get at half price books for 5.99. They don't want their child in class when books get handed out as the only child not getting one. Nore do the parents want to be judged by school staff as a parent that doesn't care or neglects their kids needs.
